We’ve been going to Pizza King in Avon since our kids were little, that’s about 30 years. I have never been treated so badly by the staff. It was so bad that we will never return. And, I want to warn others not to go either. We ordered two pizzas , two orders of breadsticks, & two additional breadsticks. The guy on the other end of the intercom was acting strangely throughout the order. I even had him repeat our order because I wasn’t sure he got it right. When we got the breadsticks, there were only 8. We used the intercom to tell them that we didn’t get the two extra breadsticks we ordered. They said that they’d bring them. After a little bit, one of our pizzas came. We reminded the guy that we didn’t get the two breadsticks. He said he’d check into it and he left. About five minutes later, another guy came out & said sternly, “Our policy here is that you need to pay before you get the food.” We said that nobody has even asked us to pay. He said that the guy before him told him that we refused to pay. He then said he’d go talk to the guy to find out why he lied. Soon afterwards, the original guy came back & apologized to us. He said he was so scared because he thought we were being confrontational about the missing breadsticks so he took it that we weren’t going to pay until we got the food, which by the way, we never said that. The guy seemed “off” like he had mental problems or was on drugs of some sort. We paid him for our food. It was around $80. After eating the whole first pizza, our other pizza still hadn’t come. My husband went to the window to tell them that we didn’t get our second pizza or the breadsticks. They said they’d bring them in 3 min. The pizza came probably within that 3 min timeframe but still no breadsticks. We ate part of the pizza & then my husband went back to the window to ask for a “to go” bag & ask for a refund for the two breadsticks we never got but paid for. The manager told my husband that she wasn’t going to give him money back for the two breadsticks because the video shows that we got 10 breadsticks. My husband said, “show me the video”. She took him to the back to show him the video but said she couldn’t find it. Really? You’re accusing us of stealing two breadsticks & then can’t find the video to show us what you’re claiming. They obviously need training on good customer service. And, by the way, my husband said it smelled so bad back there, like moldy. On our way out, we all went to the desk to talk to the manager again. I did the talking at first & asked to talk to the woman manager. She was working on making food & turned to me & said “What do you want?” She wouldn’t even take time to come to the counter to talk to me. I was forced to take loudly in front of other customers & the employees. I feel like that’s very disrespectful! I said we never got our breadstick. Then, this guy just came right up to me, pointing his finger at me, & yelled, you got 10 breadsticks. I said we will never return here & will tell everyone we know, not to come either. He said, “good, we don’t want you here either”. Every other restaurant I’ve ever been to listens to the customer. They would’ve not only given us two breadsticks, but probably a whole order. Maybe even a free pizza. I mean, why would we lie about not receiving two breadsticks? We had five people & I wanted each person to get two. My daughter & my husband only got one. That would be ridiculous to lie about that. We are so disappointed in the behavior of the staff at Pizza King. I hope that the manager & the guy who pointed his finger at me gets fired...
Read moreWe experienced an unfortunate evening of disrespectful attitude and treatment from this restaurant’s staff. This has resulted in Pizza King Avon losing a family of 6 happy customers of nearly 30 years, as we were yelled out the door over 2 breadsticks worth $3.
Our family ordered 2 lg pizzas and 10 breadsticks. The Server brought 8 breadsticks and said the pizzas and 2 more breadsticks were coming. Then a different sever brought out the 1st pizza and said 2nd pizza 2 more breadsticks still coming. A different person immediately came right out and told us we had to prepay bc the 1st server said we were very angry and declined to pay. I said nothing like that happened, no one is angry and the 1st server didn’t even ask for payment. 10 min later I went to the window and asked about our 2nd pizza and 2 missing breadsticks, person said it will be about 3 more minutes. I asked for more nacho cheese for breadsticks and person “that will be more money” so I said forget the extra cheese.
A Server brought our 2nd pizza to our table and I paid the server plus tip, had to ask server to see the total, server just wanted to run my card, server had no answer when I asked about breadsticks. We finished eating and I went to window and asked the person to refund $3 for 2 breadsticks we never received. He brought female mgr to the window and she told me no, we were served 10 breadsticks at the table and she has video to prove it.
She brought me to a back office to show me the video. After a few minutes of video, the only thing on video was staff walking around kitchen, zero proof that any breadsticks were brought to our table. She argued that she saw how the breadsticks were stacked in the basket and there were 10. I said thank you but we counted 8, this is quite disappointing and a waste of everyone’s time and went back out to my family to leave.
As we were leaving my wife stopped at the window and asked to speak with the female manager, but a male staff member came to the window waving his arms, pointing at my wife and yelled at my wife “please leave! You got everything! We said we are really disappointed at the treatment we received at one our favorite restaurants so we will never return and he yelled “We don’t want you back!” We said you will receive poor online reviews and he again yelled and pointed at my wife “Go ahead! Write bad reviews! No one reads Yelp!
Can’t believe over $3 for 2 breadsticks I was hauled to a back office to count breadsticks on security video. Really? Finally, It is completely inexcusable that a male staff member at a family pizza place waves his arms, points and yells at a polite female customer over anything. Several other customers, including children, witnessed his antics.
Afterwards, another family member called Pizza King Avon and ask to speak to the manager about our experience and the person answering the phone referred to us as the people who stole 2 breadsticks. Please stop embarrassing yourselves. So sad a place that has been fun and unique for our family no longer...
Read moreThe train theme is great and we enjoy that aspect of this place. My son loves the drink train and they have added a few more arcade games since last time we visited. The pizza is decent and the breadsticks are good. Our orders have always been accurate and the food served hot and fresh when we dine-in.
Last week I had a need to order carry out for the first time so I got a different view of the staff and service. Ordering over the phone was easy and pleasant, and when I arrived, a young man came to the pick up counter and greeted me right away to say my order would be ready shortly.
A woman approached to say she was having trouble opening the door to get the drinks for her table when the train stopped by. Rather than just give her the cups he had in his hand, the staff member asked he to return to her table, then he loaded the empty cups onto the train, peered down the tunnel to ensure they made it to her table, then turned away to another task. The woman immediately reappeared to say it still wouldn't open. Instead of just giving her the drinks, he asked another staff member to operate the train and he came around the counter, followed the exasperated woman to her seat and waited for the train to arrive.
After a few more moments, a family with high school aged children came to the counter to air disappointment about their experience and tensions escalated quickly. The staff appeared to be mostly young adults and high schoolers, and the situation was not at all handled professionally. The family that was involved were yelling and throwing out insults, which were met by plenty coming from a few of the staff. After the family left, a different young man leaned over the counter to address me and another gentleman waiting for his order to let us know he knew the family was in the wrong because he served them and had video evidence if we wanted to see it. He then asked me if my order was open or closed as though I was supposed to know what that meant.
The excitement and energy level over the situation was like witnessing the aftermath of a hard tackle where the players bang their helmets together in aggressive celebration. Some of the staff were obviously uncomfortable with the few that continued to talk excitedly about what went down and were quietly and quickly taking care of the orders in front of them. Finally the young man that initially helped me sheepishly handed me my order.
Although I have never personally or directly had a negative experience, witnessing the staff interaction with the other customers and how each situation was poorly handled made me wonder if there were any adults on staff or what the behavioral expectations or training are for providing decent customer service, and certainly gives me pause for a...
