We've been here a few times now & the food has always been flavorful, good portion & authentic tasting. Good beans & rice having good flavor & well cooked . Now as for our server she was very nice, attentive, sociable & talkative which made our experience more pleasant. My Tacos dorados (chicken) were really good, chicken moist with good flavor. The salsa had MILD bite it was there spiciest with a great flavor. We did have to order Cosido "to go" in order to reach the $20 min. we used a "Group On" during our visit a while back & I'll have to assume the Cosido is good as well, I'll write bout it if it's not. Being from Azusa with all the other Mexican restaurants in the city & there's a grip, Jessie's holds it's own. We will return. A major issue for me is room temperature, it needs be addressed, especially in summer for some reason the dining area is kept very warm making the stay a bit uncomfortable, For a more comfortable dining experience it needs to be cooler in the dining area, hence 3 stars. From an ADA aspect its "ok" a little tight for a wheelchair but maneuverable, seating is ok although last I was here reupholstering was needed on the booths they also have separate tables/chairs, using walking aids myself it's simple enough, I haven't used the restrooms so I can't comment. Parking is easy having there own parking lot. The decor is old school & as expected for a mexican restaurant, could use a facelift. It's an easy find its on a corner & about 1/2 mile or so North off 210 fwy exit Azusa ave. head towards...
Read moreI am torn with this review as with this place it’s always a hit or miss, some things are excellent while others are pretty bad. I have tried their menudo and their shrimp soup and they are both excellent specially with the oil chili and delicious hand made tortillas. their micheladas were absolutely amazing the first time I tried them, while the second time they used bad limes on them and it made the michelada absolutely bitter and un drinkable , the guacamole I ordered was black, the shrimp coktel was not good, as it was very fishi and very stinky and shrimp were a bit rubbery and it had a bad aftertaste, The pozole was average not bad but not great. But what I did not like was the birria. My first impression as I opened it was the awful smell, I think its goat meat which I was not expecting, I was not advised but it can also be my bad for not asking. but then it seemed as if they gave me the left overs, because there was hardly any meat , mostly caldo and chunks of fat . I would definitely never order that again. This place has a-lot of potential but they need to have higher quality standards to have better consistency in the quality...
Read moreTalk about a little hidden gem...well Jessie's it is, right here!
I have been coming here for years and their freshly, flavorful homemade authentic Mexican food never fails, oh yeah and their homemade tortillas on point. As well portion wise they pack up your plate just the way I like it, it's always about quality over quantity for me...here though quality on point and quantity they level up!
So yes you get your money's worth. As for service it's pretty good the servers are nice serving you with a smile so that's a plus. Ok so the place when you look at it from the outside it's not much too look at, and at the same time these are the spots that are a must to hit up, same as the inside simple restaurant but they do keep it clean and most importantly their food tastes clean and fresh which personally that's what counts for me.
Unlike some of these restaurant that look all fancy with horrible food and service. Definitely recommend this little hidden gem for BOMB authentic homemade...
