Basically the only place in Kitsap open for brunch on Sundays with decent vegan options! The tofu scramble has some tasty marinated tofu chunks with spinach and mushrooms, but I don’t like mushrooms so got them to sub in olives. They did charge me an extra $1 for that. It comes with perfectly cooked and steaming hash browns on the side and your choice of toast or muffin. I specified no butter for my toast, but it did come out totally dry. I was fine with that for the most part, but had finished my food with half a piece left and half wasn’t going to eat it dry, some jam would’ve been nice! I would’ve asked, but we were in a rush. They also initially forgot to bring my hash browns, but quickly remedied that when I asked about it. The place is busy. We arrived at 11:10 am in a Sunday and though there was no line, all tables were full. We lucked out as a group of three was just leaving, but it took a few minutes to turn over the table. Once we sat we ordered quickly and coffee came out fast (they have oat milk), but then the food took quite a while. Since we needed to leave, we went in and asked to pay around 12:40 pm. There is a nice little outdoor seating area for when the weather is decent! It’s October and we were fine outside, I imagine they close that at some point. We did notice that whenever the Seattle-Bainbridge ferry arrived, there was a mad rush of people and a line would form, so if you’re not coming off the ferry, would highly recommend you look at the ferry schedule to avoid right after one arrives. My friends (not vegan) got the BLT Benedict and breakfast burrito and said they were good and filling. “Perfectly cooked poached eggs with runny yolk and no slimy whites.”

New Review (August 2021) I came by on a busy Friday morning straight from the ferry, on the way out to the Peninsula. It's a very convenient place to stop just off the start of the highway, and I brought my Mom along for a strong breakfast to start our vacation weekend. The service was excellent as before, and this time I tried a new item: the biscuits and gravy, bacon on the side. Mom had the waffles with bacon and hash. We were stuffed and happy when we left. If I may be so bold, I would love to see a lox & bagel item added to the menu, as there is a lox-style omelet available that has most of the requisite ingredients. I would order this every time, not being much of an egg or omelet eater. Still, I would come back again as this is by far the best breakfast option around Eagle Harbor. Bon Appetit! Olympic Otter Previous review: Awesome classic diner with great service and tasty food. Seems to be more of a breakfast spot with the occasional lunch, and there are many more items on the menu I want to try. So far I've had the french toast with some bacon, and was thoroughly satiated and satisfied. Can't wait to visit again!

Mortifying first experience! Let me take you thru this somewhat briefly... Upon arrival, they were busy, but we were greeted by a nice young guy and sat fairly quickly. That's a YAY! Once seated, our server came, and rather than greet us warmly, we received a somewhat reserved greet with "Do you know what you would like?". We had not yet decided on our meals but ordered beverages and indicated we needed more time. Our beverages arrived in short order, and as I reached for my spoon to stir my coffee, I noticed enormous chunks of food debris on my spoon that apparently got missed. The server returned to take our food, and I discreetly called her attention to the dirty spoon and requested a new one. No apologies. She just took it and walked away. We waited a bit for our food, but understandably, due to how busy it was. Once the food arrived, one of the meals was nowhere near what was ordered. We stated that it was wrong as it was set in front of us. We received a blank stare with no apologies or reassurance that it would be corrected. I watched the activities around me, and it seemed like our server didn't know what to do when she set the returned plate back down near the sell window area. The young guy who greeted us saw me with my plate but had no plate in front of my friend. He looked around and saw the wrong plate and tried to give it to us again. I quickly stopped him and let him know what it was supposed to be. He apologized and looked like he was bringing it to our servers' attention again. There appeared to be some confusion and frustration by one of the cooks as if our server didn't even order all of our meals or something, and now he had to hurry up and prepare it on the fly, but almost as if this wasn't the first time this has occurred today. We waited and waited... my coffee went empty, and no one stopped to check in except the first guy. And where is my spoon??? My food went cold, waiting for the other meal to be fixed. I asked another young guy for ketchup... several minutes passed, and where's my ketchup??? He never brought it even though it was feet away. Finally, my friend stood up, took 4 steps, and grabbed one from the counter. Btw, where's my spoon? About 20 minutes later, the first nice guy brought us the meal, apologized for the confusion, and left to attend his own tables. He was great! We ate, and I had to stop a different lady to request more coffee. She gave me a look, or maybe I imagined it because I was so frustrated, but it was like I was bugging her. Finally, a young guy filled my coffee, and our server finally returned and asked how everything tasted. It was okay. Cold but okay. What I didn't understand was why she would not acknowledge her mistake, apologize for it, and make every effort to fix it. It's like she was avoiding the issue and us! And where's my damn spoon????? The check came without words. I took it and gave my card to pay for it. The first guy brought it back to us and apologized again for the confusion. Also, i noticed he did make some adjustments to the bill to ease our pain.He didn't need to, but it was appreciated. He was great. I wish we had him. Nonetheless, I signed it and left VERY disappointed and frustrated with our server. I got having a bad day, but that was way too much! To our server, take this review and hopefully learn from it. Use the LAST method; Listen. Apologize Solve. And... Thank the guest. It goes a long way. It's okay to make a mistake, but don't avoid acknowledging it. This place gets good reviews, and I'm sure they are well deserved. Today, for our experience, it was just an "off day." My hope is our next visit won't be a...

Came in with my husband and our daughter around noon today and we were told it would be a 20 minute wait for the three of us. Cool, no problem there, we took the opportunity to walk around a bit before we were seated. We come back about 25 minutes later and spot 2 different tables open…problem is that it’s too tight to fit the three of us. Now we’re slightly annoyed, but still just happy to be there since we were given the impression that there would be a table open for us soon. 15 more minutes go by and we wait, and watched as people were seated before us. I can understand that to an extent, but if they didn’t have the seating available for us, why not just be upfront about it instead of having us wait there in a crowded restaurant? During the 15 minutes that we waited to be seated (again, since they had given us the impression that we would be seated) the attitudes of the waitstaff got worse. I even saw one of the waitresses mouth “sh*t” as we made eye contact, almost like she was upset we were still standing there waiting. Given how uncomfortable and unwelcome we felt as an 3 person party (sorry for your inconvenience there I guess) we won’t be back. Such a shame because this place came so highly recommended and we had driven about 45 minutes to try them out. We had a great experience across the street at the winery, and based on the conversations that were going on with the other customers around us, about the service at Streamliner Diner our experience was...
