The Fruit Stand — Restaurant in Bainbridge Township

I am actually quite saddened that I have to make this review. I have never written a negative review on Google before, but I just really felt like I had to with how I felt leaving this establishment today, Sunday. I originally went to the fruit stand on Friday because I had heard about a new location opening in the Aurora and I was so excited to try it. I usually go to the downtown location when I can, but sometimes I’m unable to go due to the lack of parking, so when I heard that there was a Aurora location, I was extremely excited that I would be able to have one of my favorite snacks more frequently. When I got there on Friday, I realized that they had closed early at 2 o’clock for the snowstorm which is completely understandable. I was disappointed that I couldn’t try, but that was OK because I knew I was coming back because of how much I enjoyed the fruit stand product. So that brings me to today. I come into the last hour they are closed, but no means the last 10 or 15 minutes I’m in there and I wipe off the salt off my feet and I see that one employee is sweeping up and the other one is behind the counter. I am the only customer in the store. The young lady behind the counter refusing to look at the door or acknowledge me, both of them look away. I’ll look at the menu just to make sure that I’m at the right establishment and it’s anything different and still no acknowledgment no eye contact. No anything. Both very disgruntled. The one employee that was sweeping in the turning away and sweeping on the opposite direction, and the other one who has one who has gloves on at the counter starts scratching her face with the gloves on and looking off to the side still this whole time still without a hello, smile, wave, any greeting or acknowledgment. I know when I am unwanted so left. Something told me to turn around and I see the young lady that was sweeping, smiling/giggling. It appears that it came from that I left or that they did not have to go through with my order as it was the hour of opening. She then takes the sweeping tools to the back. I took a picture of the establishment but I will not post the pictures of the employees because I don’t believe in that, but please do better. Thirty minutes until close should not have those customers feel so unwanted. Gloves are meant to keep the food contamination free. As excited as I was quite disappointed with the treatment. It was my first time here at fruit stand. I went with a friend, excited to try it out. I was unsure as to how the process worked, so I took a moment and asked my friend; the worker stood there glaring at me. Eventually we started our bowl and got the strawberry acai base with strawberries and blueberries. We felt very rushed from the worker as she had an attitude. We then got our toppings and then our drizzle or whatever, and we asked for Nutella and whipped cream. We looked away for one second, and she put PEANUT BUTTER ON MY BOWL!!! how do you get peanut butter and whipped cream mixed up? Genuinely? Since she already seemed annoyed with us we didn't say anything, but it definetely ruined the bowl. As we ate we could feel the workers watching us and whispering and snickering to each other, assuming it was about us.. overall, this was NOT a good experience and I don't plan on returning to...

I found a used bandage in my food. Absolutely unacceptable. Absolutely disgusting! I was shocked to discover it buried in my bowl. Sick to my stomach especially because my one year old had his own bowl. This raises serious concerns about the cleanliness and quality control at this location. I stopped eating immediately and tried to reach out to the business but I don’t see a number. This is my first time and I will continue to spread the word. Food safety should be taken seriously.
