This review comes after a second visit within less than a month (yeah it's good). I've been to several ramen places in Bakersfield and I would have to say this would be my go to (Kamisama [mehh], O Ramen [just alright], Re-mix [great quality, but pricey]). The service is great, place is clean and food was really good.
Service - The restaurant is not that big (commercial building, next to Jamba Juice) so staff is small (2 waiters, 2 chefs, 1 in back). Although they are small, the wait staff was very attentive and polite. The space may not be ideal for big parties, and they do offer take-away.
Food - In my opinion, this ramen joint would be up there with the ones I've tried in L.A., just to give you a comparison. So the first time I came I had the Chashu (pork) Ramen, the amount of Chashu you get is plenty compared to other places in Bakersfield. This time, I got the chicken which had a good amount of chicken as well. They do have seafood, vegetable, and spicy options available. The main reason why I favor this place is the type of noodles. It doesn't taste like the cheap kind, and you have a choice between thick or thin. I do not like noodles that are over cooked and mushy, and this place cooks it just the way I like it. Presentation is on point with green onion, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and of course an egg.
They also offer a variety of rice bowls and appetizers. Soft drinks are available in a can with ice, and plenty of Japanese alcoholic beverages.
Hopefully you will give this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe broth has a good but not great flavor. I found my spicy miso bowl to be a little underwhelming. The green onion and corn don't add enough flavor to the bowl for me to make up for the lack of flavor in the broth. Also asked for extra noodles, and emphasized the extra Noodle part to the waitress. Sadly when my order came 25 minutes later. It was without extra noodles. Then after my dinner was finished the waitress asks me did you want the extra Noodle?? Lol, I'm a little mad she asked that with a straight face. I said no, because I'm finished with my dinner and how it's be pointless to just serve me noodles by themselves. So she brings me the check and that was that. Didn't apologize for the mistake or anything. No comp on the check to compensate (not that it's necessary, but its a gesture of good faith I guess. Idk most restaurants do this when they make a mistake) and they didn't which kinda rubbed me the wrong way. Last but not least they serve canned soda. I know it's not a big deal for most but to me it is. There's no reason you can't have a soda machine besides wanted more money from your customers.
Overall I'd say the food was 3/5...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recommend ordering from here. Please read towards bottom about the packaging.. being grocery style paper bag or your own. Not packed for driving AT ALL JUST HEADS UP.. So...Fast online order. Was ready before expected time and was notified as wellšš½šš¼ Food was plenty warm by the time I got home. They were very friendly. If you read this Ten Gu Ramen, I will suggest thinking of a different way to pack the food. We are driving usually on a pick up. The tower stack method is plastic bag doesn't work. Constantly I had to grab food as containers fell on side. The broth container being one. Very frustrating when trying to drive. Please invest or come up with a driving friendly packing. Maybe paper bag with containers spread out at bottom so us drivers can set on seat or ground so it all stays in place. One on top of each other straight up does NOT work. Besides that which I feel has nothing to do with rating, the food was great!!! Thank you Ten Gu. I recommend to...
