Before today we've tried every Pho place in town except this one. So we wanted to see how this new place stacked up against the rest. We stopped in for lunch at about 1:30pm on Friday. The place was empty when we arrived which was concerning, although a few people did arrive while we were there.
Our server was friendly and welcoming, and answered any questions we had before ordering. The menu is confusing regarding the Pho, as only a few of them have a price next to them. And its only one price, not two prices for large and small. The others, we found out, were all the same price as build-a-bowl, with small sizes $14.25 and large sizes $15.25. I don't like to be critical, but I don't think this is a good pricing strategy personally. The build-a-bowl should start at $11 for a large bowl (or $8 for a small bowl) before adding anything else, just like the minimalists Pho above it. It all needs a re-think to be in line with local competitors.
I ordered the cold cut (liver pate, egg mayo, pork cha lua, trotter sausage, daikon, carrot) Banh Mi and the Welldoners (Brisket, Skirt, Flank) Pho. My wife ordered the smokey meats (chargrilled chicken, egg mayo, pickled vegs) Banh Mi and the aviators (white OR dark chicken, she asked for dark but was given white) Pho. At $14.25 for a small bowl, the Pho was not only more expensive than competitors, but the bowl itself is smaller than any local competitor, and we were also disappointed with the small amount of meat we received. Overall we can only say it was good, not great. The Banh Mi at $9.25 were a bit smaller than those we've had at competitors, and needed some sauce. As we also wanted sodas, which are $3 each, we decided to add fries and a soda to our sandwiches for $5 more. The fries were just a handful of standard crinkle cut fries, barely worth the $2 to be honest. The cold cuts were tasty, but the chargrilled chicken tasted too sweet. Again, overall good but not great.
Our total bill including tip came out to $75! This is honestly $15-25 more than we've paid for the same things from other places, and there we got more Pho and Banh Mi for our money. I really wanted to be able to recommend this place, as the food is good overall, but at this point in time I can't. It is overpriced and provides smaller portions for the money than competitors, without having better tasting food. Of course they offer a lot more than just Pho and Banh Mi, so those items may well offer a better value proposition to customers. I hope they reduce prices and re-think their pricing strategy, and make portions at least 20% bigger to be in-line with competitors. Then I believe they have a great...
Read moreI have been to this restaurant twice so far and I have to say after trying multiple Pho's in the area this one has been my go to place. The food tastes great, as well as the menu providing an assortment of drinks. The atmosphere is very calming and welcoming, giving a cafe style environment plus nice cafe music in the background. Service is very quick and the worker is very nice. My only concern that I only noticed my second time being a customer there is the fish tank. Although my comment may appear to be silly to some, I have big concern for the fish in the tank as the fish are in an empty tank. When I say empty, I mean completely empty! Providing no stimulation at all. Now, I am not an expert on how to take care of fish as I did not grow up taking care of any, but I know well enough to know that fish cannot thrive without rocks, places to hide, and plants, this can cause the fish to be stressed out. I mean I could hardly enjoy my food without knowing the fish are just eating away at the tank! I have never wrote a review for any place yet I felt a great need to write my concern for the fish. Besides my concern, I definitely recommend trying this place out at least once. I just hope the next time I come back, the fish tank will look more like home for these...
Read moreLet me preface that I HATE soup! Never been a fan, I’ve tried quite a few and could only stand something thick like a bisque. So broth was completely out of the question for me. But I’m recovering from strep and really needed something fulfilling that will also make me feel better. Did some searching and was recommended “Pho & More”. Went in and the atmosphere was soo nice, from the fish tank, the art on the wall and even the ceiling! The place felt safe and cozy, nostalgic even. Then I ordered with an amazing employee, I wish I got his name, he was soo kind and patient, helped me pick out a meal that would check all my boxes and meet my dietary needs (no pork, no dairy). I got the Classic with steak, and it’s the most delicious noodle/broth/soup I’ve ever had! I mean I’m surprising myself and drinking the broth from the bowl! It’s so good I had to pull myself away just to make this review! My day was made, 10/10 recommend and will...
