Myself, husband and sister and her husband went to Angie's on Valentine's Day weekend. They had a coat check and greeted us warmly when we entered right away. They even had Hershey kisses for the taking and roses on the table. Very nice touch!!
Our server, Anthony, was super hospitable and took really good care checking on us, keeping our table clear and offering tips on the menu. I'd heard the servers make the drinks and he confirmed that. My God, the pours are strong for sure!!! That's kind of their MO and they do not disappoint. The Old Fashioned and Angie's Relaxer are strong as hell!! Moscow Mule, not as much.
We all agreed the apps were delious (Honey Old Bay wings, Oyster Justice, crab dip) were served hot. My sister and I confirmed the wings were fried perfectly hard (IYKYK). Could have used a few more baguettes with the crab dip though.
The entrées we had were Steak Nina (with ribeye, which was great)! The fried Fisherman's platter was stellar. My husband used to get some similar from Mama's on the Half Shell and they discontinued it so he was very happy to see it at Angie's. The lobster imperial was a huge hit and the Rockfish my sister got went over well. Now, they forgot her imperial but Anthony did a great job tracking it down and although she didn't care for it (not enough crab), his effort was appreciated. We even ordered a bottle of Riesling, which was great! The atmosphere was welcoming, lots of similar couples and there was a group hosting a party of 10 nearby that I was sure would raise the noise level but everyone was super chill! The restaurant allowed them to decorate their table and even helped them, which was so nice! Music was 90s R&B, which fit the vibe just right!!! Even piped in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, that was the only detractor, there were paper towels on the floor that should have been cleaned up but small things...
Three apps, 4 cocktails, 4 entrées, 1 bottle of wine, with tax and auto gratuity came to $478 so by no means cheap but totally worth the Valentine's splurge. We even tipped Anthony on top of that for being so friendly! I hope he gets special recognition for this review! Can't...

Read moreI wanted to experience eating blue crabs while visiting Maryland. We ended up eating here after being recommended by a friend. Each blue crab cost $10 per crab. This is a ridiculous price, but I still ordered a half dozen to try it since we were already there to try it out. One of the crabs wasn’t even full so I paid $10 for a dud. Being from South Carolina, I know that blue crabs are not that expensive, and this was highway robbery. Anyway, the seasoning is all on the outside, they must broil the crabs and then sprinkle a ton of Old Bay on the outside. Very disappointing to say the least. I thought Maryland supposed to have the best blue crabs, no they don’t. I’m not just basing my opinion on this one restaurant, I went to another restaurant based in Vegas that’s based out of Maryland and they season their crabs the same way. If you want great blue crabs, go visit a relative or friend in South Carolina on the coast. They’ll cook the crab thoroughly with seasoning in the pot from start to finish. After ordering two appetizers, we were already at $34. It’s not about the money sometimes, it’s about the experience. I wanted a dining experience and this was not it. My wife ordered a pasta meal without onions, but it came loaded with onions. I’m not discussing the other entrees we ordered because they were over priced and not that good. The restaurant is older in the downtown area. Looks like it could be a fine atmosphere if the price is adjusted for what you’re getting. A mixed cocktail cost $17 and $9 for a bottle of water. Again, ridiculous. They must have pricing for locals and then an out of town menu. I just can’t see how this place is still in business. I’ve travelled all over the world and this place charges like premium fine dining. Far from it. I had a choice to either stay or leave, but based on the menu I thought I’d give it a try. Should have went to Red Lobster instead, 😄. Oh, one last thing, gratuity is charged automatically. To my surprise because the waitress didn’t even mention...
