Living near Arundel Mills, there aren't any good pupuserias around this area. So looking online, I found this restaurant in the Fells Point area and I decided to give it a shot! So parking is not that bad, at least on a Sunday when I went, since I was able to find it for free on the street on Broadway. So the decor inside definitely reminds you of being in El Salvador and its very homey. Additionally, the waitresses are more than welcoming and show great hospitality. I think they should update the menus--right now its just pictures of the food items but not much description of what each dish contains (at least for those who are not familiar with it). But I knew I was coming in for Pupusas and honestly these were different than I've had before, but yet they were good (not the best, but definitely good). I also had plantains, which are fried but not the same way you would find like at a Jamaican restaurant but definitely was good. For 25 bucks for dinner for two, I could not complain (and also the free...
Read moreWe LOVE this place!! They have Mexican and El Salvadorian food that is ALWAYS fantastic!! Everyone is super friendly and efficient and the place is always clean. The owner or a partner? Is usually onsite and is sure to check in with you. The servers are friendly and attentive. The food, OMG THE FOOD, is brought out quickly and we have yet to have a single dish that wasn't delicious! The only things I would change are the complimentary chips and salsa but my mother's godparents own a tortilla factory in Texas and I am spoiled and fickle when it comes to chips. The salsa is easily doctored with the assortment of table condiments and you should be saving room for the food anyway. The combination platters are HUGE and delightful, tacos (including lengua and chorizo) are authentic, and I always get a fried corn tamale with fresh crema. Do yourself a favor and head to Upper Fells point, grab a giant, cheap, and tasty pitcher of sangria, and stuff yourself with at this...
Read moreEl Salvador must have a seafood culture similar to Maryland. Locals getting food from the water and making magic with it.
Aside from the regular dishes associated with food from Latina countries (tacos, burritos, etc.) El Salvador Restaurant has great seafood.
When I see the piping hot plates and bowels headed to tables of families and groups of people in the Know (aka-Latina People) it is very clear the seafood is a big hit.
I cant stop ordering the Rockfish. The fish is served whole, fried to crispy perfection without sacrificing the tender juicy meat. The only condiment I use is a little lime juice.
I would also recommend the margarita. The recipe must call for a splash of condensed milk, or coconut milk because there is something different about this common drink that nobody else is doing.
The service is outstanding considering how welcome you are made to feel even with a sizable language gap (Smiles speak volumes).
I am always happy that...
