I recently celebrated a milestone birthday and was gifted a staycation by my husband to have a peaceful evening to myself. I frequently stay at and patron the Four Seasons Baltimore so while I chose to spend the day at their spa, I requested a stay at the Pendry because I wanted to patron a new establishment. HUGE MISTAKE! The moment I arrived at the Pendry, I should have used my better judgement and cancelled the stay. I arrived an hour early to the hotel after my spa treatments hoping to do an early check in and get rest, but was met by Nichola who was extremely rude and dismissive. She made me feel anything but welcome by cutting me off while speaking multiple times and immediately dismissed my request for early check in. So I sat in the lobby and patiently waited an hour to check into a room. After my check in time had passed, I inquired at the desk as to when I would get a room and was told they were “working on it.” I even had my husband call to help expedite the process and watched Nichola tell the phone representative to “take a message and tell them I’m busy,” as she stood at the front desk and very well could have taken that call. I was finally checked into a room on the first floor and asked by Nichola “if I needed assistance with my luggage,” when I had witnessed her OFFER all other patrons assistance with their luggage. Arrived to my room and it was initially aesthetically pleasing. I immediately went to take a nap but was unable to do so, because my room faced the harbor (not what my husband booked) and had a pirate ship going by frequently with actors performing a pirate show!!!! To make matters worse the walls are so thin that I could hear the cell phone ringing of the patrons next door to me as well as their conversations, CLEAR AS DAY! I could also hear conversations of anyone outside or near my window. Later in the evening, I decided to order room service and was told my meal would take 20 minutes… well an hour later NO FOOD had arrived and when I called room service the same gentleman who took my order proceeded to ask me “what did you order again?” At this point I was flabbergasted and frustrated! However I will say that the food manager on site, Angie, was apologetic and immediately came with an appetizer while I waited an additional half hour for my meal. She was kind and I truly appreciated her efforts to rectify the situation. After I finally ate, I decided to take a shower and went into the bathroom to find soapy water and a tuft of hair from the PREVIOUS patrons in the shower! I was mortified. Imagine staying in a 5 star hotel only to find out the bathroom was never cleaned. I took the quickest shower and just went to bed. The next morning, I had breakfast at the Rec Pier chophouse and thankfully did not experience any issues. I did go to the front desk to express my EXTREME DISAPPOINTMENT in my stay, only to have Nichola (she returned the next morning to my dismay) offer “a discount” to a room that was almost 4 figures in cost, but it was not much and absolutely not comparable to the damage that was already done. Brittany was a breath of fresh air during checkout, I only wish I could have encountered her from the very start. What was supposed to be a relaxing, milestone birthday was one that I will never forget in the most NEGATIVE way! I would never recommend this hotel as it is not of 5 star quality or service. My only positive of that weekend was choosing to have my spa day at my TRIED and TRUE, or the Pendry would have ruined my celebration of another year of life altogether! I never should have convinced my husband to book me a stay there....

Warning! My review has a lot of exclamation points and a story about throwing up. Be warned!!

This hotel is great on all levels. I have stayed at hotels all over the world and love an indulgence. But, this place is different - it has a heart.

Located right on the water with cobble stone streets and great restaurants around it, the location can't be beat. The rooms are newly renovated with everything you need - comfy pillows, great bedding, and cool views either into the courtyard or onto the river.

But, and here is the big but, the greatest part of staying here is the service. I was greeted at the front desk by Nichola who, I later learned was the manager. She checked me in, brought my luggage up to the room, and even sent up a bottle of wine to greet me to the room. Then, and this was real doosy, I got crazy sick from eating something off (would never blame the delicious, incredible, oysters).

I know you are dying to hear what happened next. Well, I was locked up in my glorious and beautiful room ill for a whole day. But, not to worry. I received such good care from Brittany, who works at the front desk and brought me all of my uber eats (even heated up my 7-11 canned chicken soup and brought a tea and spoon). She called up a little later to see if I was okay and offered to extend my stay if I needed.

Then, when dinner came around, Des and Desah helped bring my next round of soup up to the room to make sure I was okay. This included a fresh round of water and some tums to settle my stomach.

Now, you think the service couldn't get better....it did. I went down the next morning to get some breakfast. You know after you have been sick all you want is something simple. So, I asked for a tea and banana. Terrance, who works as the valet, went into the back to get said banana for me (thank you very much!) but there wasn't one back there.

Then, you won't believe this. Then, he says, no problem, I will run up to 7-11 to get a banana. He comes back with not one but three bananas for me to take as many as I want. And, you all know that the bananas at 7-11 cost a bomb so he is literally going above and beyond for these bananas.

Listen. I know you are now thinking I am a diva and I am. But, honestly, this was the best service I have ever had and I stayed at a few of those 5, 6 and 7 star hotels in Dubai.

There is a care factor here that makes you really feel like you are at a luxury hotel and not just paying luxury prices for a standard room and a brand name. And, that is the intention....I ran into the general manager Parag who told me this is his vision. And, his team is slaying it.

YOU NEED TO STAY HERE!! AND, I NEED TO MOVE IN HERE!!

Side note: Housekeeping was also fab. They organize your stuff and make it look pretty like at those super fancy luxury hotels. I didn't mean to make them fold all my dirty clothes but they did and placed it delicately on the couch and I felt like a real boss when I came back in and saw it. They are doing the greatest job too.

So, I will say it again: TOTALLY WORTH THE MONEY. YOU NEED TO...

I am writing this review in hopes to save another bride the amount of confusion, anger and frustration I went through with this hotel for a ROOM BLOCK and GETTING READY. I should have known I was going to have issues when I first reached out to the events team to inquire about a room block. The Events Manager informed me that the date was unavailable, okay no problem. Well my maid of honor wanted to make certain this was the case and decided to call and was told by the Events Coordinator that a room block was available and started to get a proposal from the same EVENTS MANAGER who told me the date wasn’t available. This was literally the beginning to a terrible situation that occurred down the road. I will level-set, I do accept responsibility for missing this part within my contract, but other brides, please be aware that Sagamore Pendry has a RELEASE DATE of the rooms, as well as an Attrition Rate clause (that does not state its an Attrition Clause). When my husband and I saw the release date, we thought the contract was similar to other room blocks we did at the Marriott Waterfront. Nope, its not. However, this did not become an issue until three days before my wedding. Two things the Events Manager did to us. She informed us that we were financially responsible for the remaining rooms as well as letting us know that we cannot take any photos outside of room. I cannot begin to tell you how angry I was at this Manager for her lack of professionalism and communication and two the Pendry itself would allow this to happen. To be informed three days before that I cannot take photos, when this was main the reason I chose to get ready here, as well as having to pay for rooms not even used and not be able use any part of the hotel for photos is such a terrible thing to do to a bridal party. The EVENT MANAGER knew we weren’t having our wedding there, you would think she would have said immediately that photos can’t be taken by weddings not on site, but she didn’t. Now, I’m not a person to complain, but they truly need to transform their process. The Events team need an email template and detailed brochure that they provide to every bridal couple during the inquiry process. STOP HIDING IMPORTANT DETAILS and INFORMATION to couples. Couples are spending a lot of money and budgeting things to only be informed three days before is ridiculous. I don’t care if someone is only spending 100 dollars, everyone should be treated with the same amount of respect and curtesy.

However, I still love the Pendry hotel and will still support staying there as the Events Team lack of respect and communication does not change my mind about how beautiful the hotel is, but let me tell ya, that Events team has to get it together. If it wasn’t for the other workers at the hotel, my final opinion maybe completely different, hence the three stars and not one star. My other brides out there not having a wedding at the Pendry, but getting, please be aware of their photography policy as they are not...
