This is the SECOND time within a short period of time that my food was absolutely terrible! The Broadway diner located at 6501 Eastern Avenue once was a desirable establishment. I ordered three CARRYOUT items that came out to $47.49 I left a tip in addition rounding it up to $50 bucks. This occurred on Friday; November 8th in the evening.
I called in my order then I asked how long it would take... I was told it would take 10 to 15 minutes. I then proceeded to order a (Chicken salad sandwich) a Turkey club and Chipped beef with grits. FYI; I've been ordering the same thing for years.
HERE IS MY EXPERIENCE: The french fries that came with BOTH sandwiches all were undercooked SOGGY. This will require me to take time to cook them for these fries to be edible (if) we eat them at all another day. Note one of my sandwiches was (completely wrong).
After I called the manager he explained to me that I ordered 2 turkey sandwich's; one a turkey club. I asked him to listen to the recording and that I always order the SAME exact thing for many years whenever I patronize his business... I've eaten at this place several times and it has significantly changed! Whatever this meat is which the manager said was Turkey was (very brown in color) this is what they chose to give me in place of what I ordered "chicken salad sandwich" & a turkey club too. That brown sandwich I would call a (vegetable sandwich) accompanying a minimal amount of brown colored something MEAT on it & bacon too. Ridiculous! I hope I don't get sick!
Lastly; the (Chipped beef) which I asked for it to be on "toast" which I've eaten it this way since being a child many many years ago must have been rushed for the bread appeared to be on only white or very very barely toasted where one could not tell if it was toasted.
The manager was not willing to credit my credit card in any way shape or form although I asked for a partial payment because one sandwich out of all of everything was correct. I asked for him to have the (owner) to reach out to me... I wanted to leave my phone number. He refused after being asked SEVERAL times to pass my information on to the owner he explained this is their policy bring the food back. I EXPLAINED THAT I live nowhere near this establishment.
FYI; The only (receipt) that I was given only shows what I paid for this food yet it does not REFLECT WHAT I ACTUALLY RECEIVED.
I'll never step foot back into this place that's for sure. I had to waste my time trying to explain all this to a manager who only gave me the option to drive back to his restaurant although I don't live nowhere near his establishment to receive the correct food versus crediting my credit card partially. Smh
Too bad I can't submit the photos I've taken. Moreover; I hope I was not "overcharged" or mistakenly charged the wrong amount since they did not give me an itemized receipt for my...
Read moreThe waitress was nice and the atmosphere was like any other of diner. We sat down and had our order in before 1:30pm we didn't get our food until 2:51pm. When we asked the waitress does it normally take that long (considering we saw others come in after us and receive their food before us) she said she doesn't know what happened. She was still waiting on my steak. A few minutes later, we asked again and she said she didn't know why it was taking so long. Only for her to finally bring it and it was warm not hot, my grits were cold so much so that the cheese that was on top of it when trying to mix it in was just a blob, it didn't melt. ( The grits and the steak were the first things to come out) i didn't understand how that was. If initially, she said all she was waiting on was the steak, but any who. Once the eggs came out, along with the sausages, they were as if it were sitting a bit because they were both room temperature.. at that point I ate the pancakes, which we're really good to be honest, and everything else we boxed up and bought home. .I didn't expect this to be a fast food restaurant. However, as I stated others that came in well after us received their food before us. And it's not like we were getting anything. Custom-made outside of breakfast food, Side salad, ribeye steak, so I just...
Read moreWhat a great and fun diner, overall. I love a nice classic looking diner with a friendly staff and a big pastry case. The Broadway Diner had all that and more. I stopped in on a weekday morning for breakfast. The diner was not terribly busy and I was seated right away. My server was friendly and quick. The menu is huge overall, but the breakfast choices were contained to 2 pages and a specials list. I ordered a coffee and the Eggs Benedict from the regular menu. The coffee was pretty good, and the food came out relatively quickly. I thought that the Benedict was quite good as were the hash browns. However, as others have said, I think the prices were a smidge high. The coffee was over $3 I think and the Benedict was $14.95, perhaps should have been $12.95 as it was not very big. But, again, it was tasty. What was BIG was the dessert. I felt in the mood for pie, I was hoping for peach, but no... They offered Apple, Choc Creme, Lemon Meringue and another I cant remember. I ordered the Chocolate Creme and it was a whole damn pie! For $6! What a deal, I could not finish it. It had to be a 6 inch pie, at least. A surprise for sure. You know I took it home. The one tick for Atmosphere, the hallway to the restrooms and the restroom itself smells...
