I will not return! I am an African-American man. Went on 9/23/2020 with my fiancé to grab some subs as we have done in the past. The shop was empty besides ourselves and the workers, as is typical on a Wednesday evening these days. Each one looked me in my eye and said nothing. Not a hello, can I help you, would you like to place an order? Nothing. Being the optimist I am, I figured I may not be standing in the right spot, but also suspected a force I’m all to familiar with, as a Black man, was at work.
I positioned myself directly in front of the counter and all the workers went to the back. It was if they were intentionally refusing us service. We continued to stand there and we even conversed about our orders louder than necessary to make clear we were ready. I stood in that same spot for 10 minutes, nothing but me, mine, and the workers. Still no service. We left in complete dismay.
We quickly returned wanting clarity on this very unusual behavior. We inquired if we needed to place an order prior to coming. At that point the workers asked what did we want? Of course we weren’t about to spend our Black dollars in any establishment that treated us as second class citizens. We attempted to explain our frustration, but the workers informed us that they were to busy and we could either place an order or leave. Utterly disgusted and successfully repelled by the apparent prejudice by the white workers, we left. We will...
Read moreNice little pizza place. Located in Little Italy. Was immediately greeted with friendliness by one of the owners, I believe, and got my order fairly quickly, despite the place filling up during lunch hour. The shop is small, with one table inside for anyone to eat on. There are more, smaller tables outside around the corner for dining, but if it's cold, you should consider this place a stop-and-go restaurant.
The pizza itself was good, if not a bit on the greasy side (at least mine was). I got a traditional cheese pizza, just to try how they make it and what their style is like, what with their brick oven technique. I liked it, and the crust was doughy and good, but I should've gotten a smaller pizza or ate fewer slices, as the amount of grease made me pass out for a couple hours when I got back home, and I felt sluggish afterward. Flavor-wise, it was tasty.
Also tried their Cannoli which, admittedly, didn't look as big as it did on their picture. It was good, though.
There is some street parking around or you can pay to park in the garage nearby (I paid $12 for up to 2 hrs fyi). Overall, I'd probably consider Isabella's again for delivery pizza on a weekend in, but be wary if you want to watch your oily food intake. Total spent on a cheese pizza and a cannoli was a little over $20. 4/5...
Read moreWe were on a weekend trip to Baltimore and as soon as we parked, we were overwhelmed with the delicious aroma of fresh pizza. We wandered around the area trying to figure out where it came from and came across Isabella's.
Inside is tiny (literally 3 tables with very, very little seating room available) so if you can take it to go, that's probably your best bet. We did not really have that option but I am really glad we gave it a try. I am originally from NJ but have been living in TX and VA for the past 12 years; finding good authentic Italian food, specifically pizza, has been... a challenge, to say the least. My fiance is from TX so he was shocked to see what real pizza is supposed to be like!!! This definately hit the spot. Great pie, good price, super-friendly employees.
We loved it so much we went back for lunch the next day (my fiance's request, actually!!!); we got another pie as well as a cheesesteak hoagie for later, which was also yummy. Definately recommend and will definately go back next time we're...
