Stopped at this location about 10pm last night (9/12/25). The Caucasian female with dark brown hair asked was I picking up. I said no, I just wanted a slice of pepperoni pizza. She said let me see if we have any left. I asked what time do they close (to confirm it was 11pm, I looked before I walked over). She went to the back, came back and asked was it to go. I said I can eat here. I sit at the bar. For 10 minutes I sat at the bar that was dirty with cup stains and crumbs. I then asked could I have my area wiped down. She got an attitude saying “I’m about to”. Meanwhile she had be standing in front of me talking to her friends/coworker. Before she wiped my area she continued to talk to her friends/coworker. It was evident that I was not wanted because I am a black woman. I looked around and saw no other black people. The older woman with curly hair sitting behind the bar kept looking at me. I had to ask for napkins, and she dropped down the wooden box with straws and napkins in front of me. Two slices of pepperoni pizza came out and went to another table. Their slices hung over the plate and were hot, fresh you could see the cheese melted. My slice came out much smaller, barely covering the plate and hard. The same staff person greeted other customers (white) with a smile and full on conversations. Looked like an old piece that came out the refrigerator. The customer service was rude at best. The food subpar. The slice of pizza was $4.24, which wasn’t...
Read moreAngeli's Pizzeria, located in Little Italy, Baltimore, Maryland, was everything I wanted from my Italian grandma's kitchen in an updated, modern environment. The hefty Italian accents behind the bar informed me that this place wasn't messing around. I'm pretty sure there was some Neopolitan dispute taking place when I arrived, which was great! Authentic food from authentic Italians! Just the way it should be. Do I need to describe the food? Okay, you twisted my arm. I ordered way too much. A salami salad, meatballs, and a slice of pepperoni pizza. Was this simultaneously the best and worst decision I made that day? Yes, yes, it was. I dominated that salad, scarfed the meatballs, and savored the pizza. The pepperonis appropriately (in my opinion) cupped up and pooled the grease into the center. The meatballs were tender, hot, and delicious, with ample marinara sauce. I will also say that the kind gentleman behind the bar who may have owned the place asked: "How did you find us?" I told him by searching "reviews," which was true, but I also stumbled upon them, and I'm glad I did. He is also the first person who politely asked me to leave a review, so here I am — returning the favor of a beautiful experience in Little Italy,...
Read moreFrom out of town and really wanted to try some pizza. This place looked good and the reviews seemed decent, so I decided to give it a shot.
After a short walk from the hotel, I arrived at Angeli's. The place was pretty full, especially for a Thursday evening, but it is rather small. I waited for about 10 minutes for someone to take my order, but there was never even an acknowledgement from the staff that they'd get to me. So I left, went outside, and began searching other places in Little Italy to grab a bite. I didn't find anything else to my liking and I really wanted to give Angeli's a shot, so back inside I went.
I waited for another 10-15 minutes...still nothing. No acknowledgement, no greeting, nothing....the 2 working that I could see, seemed more concerned about getting drinks for those at the bar than taking orders or greeting new customers.
So, I left again and after initially wanting Italian, I ended up at James Joyce for Irish food...walked straight in, was greeted immediately, ordered my to go order at the bar, and back to the hotel I went.
I wish I could've given Angeli's a try, but this is my last night in town and despite the reviews, I was a bit put off by...
