I've USED TO go to Walt's often and it USED TO BE great fun. They had reasonably priced drinks, Jell-O shots, and a great karaoke DJ chick. Also it was a good friendly mixed crowd. You could sing multiple songs in a night and it was usually never "too" crowded even on fri/sat. I stopped going because it was less than satisfying and becoming too crowded years ago.
I gave it another chance recently, Now, it's pretty awful. The drinks are the same, and I understand the two drink min. But the sound system is terrible so even a good singer sounds bad. It's quite loud in there so half the crowd is singing along and half are not even paying attention so they're screaming over everyone else. We got there at 1030 and immediately put in one song each, and by 115 none of us had got our chance, all of the songs were being monopolized by a big group of bad singers in the back. The DJ is pretty bad too. Most of us just said screw it. My friend who was celebrating, stayed and sang just before closing and she said it was terrible, she couldn't even hear herself.
I will not be...
Read moreI guess it depends when go here, but the karaoke is hit or miss. The last two times sucked. The one time it was a girl who looked like she was 16 operating the karaoke; you couldn't even hear the music standing three feet from the monitors and she clearly had no interest in fixing it. The last time was horrible. We got there at about 10:00, there were 6 slips in front of us to sing. We ended up not getting our songs til 12:30, because the karaoke guy was seriously taking cash bribes from a couple people who sang about 8 (terrible) songs each in that time. Also the karaoke guy did an 8 minute Meatloaf "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" to showcase his great singing skills. That was just a little obnoxious. Anyway, I know I'll be back but hopefully it's not...
Read moreFirst time there. We were there with a group of about 6 people. Went to put in a song and went back to the bar, came back about 20 minutes later to see when I was up (cause they didn't have a system in place so you knew what number you were) and they told me I was 27th. I also had to pay a 2 drink minimum before I could put my songs in. Totally ridiculous. You could also barely hear the music from where we sitting, just maybe halfway down the bar. To make things worse, my friend left her phone there, and when we went to go pick it up, the bar tenders were very rude. They ignored her and then snapped at her when she tried to get their attention. She waited maybe 5 minutes before they asked her if she needed help. Definitely will not...
