Our group of three couples who frequently dine out together, tried Southern Provisions in Canton Square for the first time. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. We started by sharing the crispy brussel sprouts with a spicy dipping sauce and a watermelon salad The brussel sprouts were cooked to perfection and had wonderful flavor both with and without the sauce. The salad was one of the better watermelon salads I've ever had~a nice mix of greens, feta, watermelon, oranges, and nuts. My one friend and I ordered the Becky's s board special which was a make your own chicken lettuce wraps. They provided deliciously grilled chicken that was tender and flavorful with an entire board of fixings including shaved cucumber and carrot slices, pickled red onion, pepperoncini, crispy bacon crumbles, queso fresco, avocado aioli, and cider vinaigrette. I ordered this since I could opt to eat the components I wanted for a slightly healthier option. It was not a sacrifice at all. I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Our other friend ordered the blackened catfish served with a crispy risotto cake and brussel sprouts. She said the fish and the risotto cake were especially good. Two of the guys ordered the 14 hour smoked brisket trays with sides of mac n cheese and corn bread. They both raved over their meals and not a bite was left. These trays came with an accompaniment of sliced carrots that had been marinated with the pickled jalapenos they were served with and they were delicious. We all sampled them Our third guy ordered the bbq meatloaf with a side of homemade slaw and cornbread which he also enjoyed very much.
Our server, Katie, was great. She was friendly, helpful, knew the menu and beers well, and offered suggestions when asked, in addition to be being prompt and efficient.
Southern Provisions was a little noisy but had a nice vibe. We will definitely go back to try more of the delicious sounding offerings on their...
Read moreSoPro is a unique spot among the Canton Square mix of restaurants and bars because it chameleon's itself into a different vibe depending on the time of day, the season and what is on TV. I'll describe each phase as I have come to know them:
(4/5) Brunch Scene: The brunch here is pretty good. They revamped their food menu a little under a year ago and the food has significantly improved. Brunch does have a bottomless option, which is always nice. The servers are super friendly, and I rarely see the brunch reach max capacity, so if you aren't looking to fight for a reservation, try SoPro!
(3/5) Night Scene: At night, this bar definitely becomes more of a "dive" despite it's size. There are no draft beers, the cocktail drinks are basic but incredibly strong, and you will experience a sardine packed dance floor with a live DJ set to colored and strobing lights. It can be incredibly fun if you get into it, but it can also be incredibly overwhelming if you aren't in the right headspace. It is almost an unofficial rule that if you are crawling Canton Square to END the night here so you are in the best space for it.
(5/5) Baltimore Sports Scene: This is where I think this bar excels the most. During ravens game days/nights, the bar becomes a lively fun space to enjoy a Ravens game with other locals. They will broadcast the game audio through the whole building, and you can watch it on any one of their plethora of TV's. They have gameday specials as well, and the drinks are cheap. This is on my top 5 places to watch a Ravens game in the city, and significantly beats their sister property, One Star Country Club in Fed Hill.

I used to come here so often and would take people friends and family visiting the city here because it was so fun and good. Their food used to be so good. I guess since they've changed their menu and I suppose got a new chef and/or management, it's just not worth going to.
This was my first time here after the pandemic and their food was just bad. I ordered what used to be called "The Meat Sweats" for the entire table to share. Now it's got a boring name and really nothing on it is worth eating. Brisket was dry and had no salt. Sausage was okay, but it was like a half of a sausage.
Everything else including the chicken, pulled pork, and especially the pork belly-- which was practically swimming -- was covered in this atrocious barbeque sauce. Their sauce used to be SO GOOD. Now it's truly disappointing.
The tuna they somehow forced into this dish was totally out of place. And, having worked in a lack luster pub before, tuna steak is a huge red flag. It is not 2005 any more get it off your menu. Wasabi mayo is gross. And really, the tuna was just bad.
The cheddar biscuits were infuriatingly awful. They were not biscuits, for one. They were essentially gummy muffin tops. And literally no salt. How do you under-season cheddar biscuits?!
And to top this experience off, I got home and felt soooo sick.
And the service. I couldn't get a drink menu. They didn't get the order right. And as soon as the order was place and delivered she disappeared.
