My wife drives for Lyft. She uses my car because it's a luxury model and puts her at the highest level of quality and comfort. Tonight we took a truck driver that broke down in frackville, pa to his hometown Baltimore, MD. After dropping him off we wanted something to eat. This was right around 11pm. We first walked into "Ellie's tavern" and we're told by the bartenders that their kitchen was closed and they reccomend that we go to "The Dive." So we walked about 10 minutes and found it. First impression... kinda small, around 15-20 patrons, the smell instantly made me even hungrier, midway thru the room a neon sign exclaimed "THE DIVE ABIDES!" which I'm pretty sure parodies a quote from one of my top 3 favorite films, on the TV at the far end of the bar was playing "THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE" and the TV on the near end of the bar was "RETURN OF THE JEDI..." I haven't even taken 3 steps into this place yet and it was already getting a 5 star review.. unless... the service sucked and/or the food sucked.. Which it did not BTW. Anyway, we walk in.. my nerd radar is is not even blipping.. it's a solid steady unwavering "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP!" We make our way to a seat at the bar, my wife does this thing where she's instantly the most attractive lady in the building.. hell, the most attractive person in the building. Good for her. Maybe I'm biased, but either way I'm not wrong. We're immediately given menus and a cold glass (oldschool looney tunes glass and she had a smurfs glass)of water, I don't even think there was ice in the water. I've never been to a bar before that immediately served a glass of water. My wife says to me that it's not that weird, or uncommon, but I never saw that before. (I'm not knocking it.. the water tasted good.) I order a double rum n coke for her and a pint of Guinness on tap for myself. I hate the taste of beer. But Guinness tastes goooooddd!!! Guinness on tap is always a good thing at a bar. Bars that don't have it on tap, take notes!! I get a smash burger and my wife gets a honey chicken blt. I devour mine. It was sooo good. Wifey says her food was amazing as well. 5 stars all around. Well done!!
Saw a lot of people ordering pizza, so I would assume this bar is known for...
Read moreSo, I went to this restaurant Friday night, and it was a 3.5 out of 5 for me. It's not a full 4, but definitely not a 3, either. But I can't do half ratings, unfortunately.
We just walked in and grabbed a table, and the server came over right away with menus and these really cool glasses of water. They had these restaurant week specials going on, and we saw the pizza on the table next to us and knew we had to split one. No way would we be able to finish a whole pizza each, get apps, and get dessert.
We got the summer special Corny pizza and the fried pickles to share. Sadly, whilst everything was super hot and fresh, it was way too salty. The pickles were so salty, they almost killed my taste buds. And the pizza was pretty salty, too, in my opinion. The corn, old bay, scallions, and gojuchang combo didn't really work for me either.
But the service was good, and the place looked really cool inside. I might go back someday and try one of their...
Read moreThe Dive will wow you with its outstanding decor, service, and food! We walked in during the middle of a trivia game on a weekend night. We found the 40-year old vintage McDonald’s glasses amazing! The working glitter ball in the dining room made us want to dance.
We arrived to a full restaurant; however, Jordan and the rest of the staff gave us flawless service from start to finish.
I enjoyed my white pizza. Generally I don’t eat the crust. However, I nearly finished the freshly-baked crust on this pizza. My friends relished their Dorito pizza and cheesesteak sub. My friend commented that the cheesesteak was the best he had ever eaten.
My only qualm was that the staff almost seemed to get pushy with upselling the food. However, they almost treat you like family here. This is a place to return to...
