Okay… pros (1) the bartender made a good drink. That’s it. Cons. (1) the bartender glared at me the moment I walked in. I smiled at her and she just rolled her head around and glared at me. (2) she avoided me for the first 5 minutes standing on the other side of the bar. I waved my Id and card. I placed them on the bar and just waited with my phone. Then once she saw I wasn’t leaving she then very slowly walked over. (3) “what do you want?” Is what I got told. She didn’t give me a menu or anything. So I said “what ever you have that’s strong and fruity.” Already had a bad day and she made it worse so I said “give me two.” She sighed and leaned back because I know someone asking you to do your job is oh so very frustrating. (4) charged me $25 dollars for 2 drinks. EXCUSE ME? I go here every now and again. I will usually go with a friend. I get 2 drinks my friend will get 2 drinks and then we split a pizza or get 2 and even then it’s still not $25. So wow. (5) she took way too long with my ID. She ran her fingers across it. She pressed her nail into it. She held it to the light. Looked at me looked at the picture like 3 times. Held up at every angle. It’s real honey. I know shocking but the DMV delivered. (6) she was very nice with all the other customer but would stop and glare at me intermittently. I hate to say it but I was the only non-white person in the room and seeing I had done nothing to her my differing complexion was the only thing I could imagine had offended her so much. I was also wearing a sweatshirt because it was cold outside maybe she has sweatshirt trauma I don’t know. 7) finally once i saw the $25 dollar charge and had a horrible experience. I said to myself “screw it im gonna break my 3 drink rule.” So when she finally walked by I asked for two more and she groaned and said “no I’m not making anymore.” So I said fine asked for the bill paid and left. I liked coming here. I always recommend this place to my friends. I work in a few places in town and I always recommend this bar. I won’t be doing so again. I’ll start recommending the tavern a few buildings up instead. A few times I went in she was working and she always glared at me. I remember one time I went upto the bar and asked her if it would easier for me to go to her and ask for my drinks or just wait for her to come to my table and she signed and said to just go to my table. This is the first time I had gone in and it was only her. The male bartender that’s there sometimes is...
Read moreMy responce if from a month ago. It's a bit late but i'm a busy person so sue me?
Anyways, something came up and I remembered this experience so had to put a review for others. I came in a month ago, came in by myself. I come in every once in a while and have never had any issues before. Then I got busy and haven't been back in about a year, so I came in a month ago as I came back up to the area to visit some Family.
There is a lady and a guy who work there that I see often when I used to go. They are fantastic. Love them. But after being gone so long, I made a stop in, haven't been back before then or since during that break due to moving out of state. When I came back for this visit those 2 were still there, love them, they were great, 5 stars to them. However, one other lady there, I haven't seen before. She knew what she was doing so either new in this past year, or I have just never been in when she worked. Who knows and honestly, I don't care.
Overall she was very rude, I haven't said a word at the time other than politley ordering so I assume just a bad day. But same here and i'm not taking it out on anyone so maybe see a therapist, or just relax your forehead? But I'm no expert on that. I also waited a long time to be seen to order and overall it was just not a great experience.
I don't think it's sooo bad that I can never come in, but next time I decide to come back, I may check other options out first now, I'll be checking who's working...
Read moreWe went at night around 9. The atmosphere they strive for appears to be laid back, vintage and low maintenance. The pictures were all tilted so they were not straight, the furniture is all worn and old. Intentionally I believe. We went as a group of 4, it was a well below average experience. The chairs wabbled back and forth as you sit in them, all of them. They seem like they are about to break from under you. They jam as many seats and tables in the area as they can, it is very crowded even though they weren't busy. The girls got some chocolate and marshmallow drinks and they did not enjoy them in the least. I took a sip and it tasked like a mix of chocolate syrup and gin. It was disappointing as we've had been to the dessert bar in Portland (chocolate bar?) and it was immaculate. It was expensive as well, and not very welcoming. We could tell quite the difference between us newcomers and the others there who were clearly regulars. Just disappointing as a whole. We will not be back. If I were to recommend a few things to the owner they would be, better product itself (maybe do test samples for new drinks?), put some money into the asthetics and make it more luxury and less "hipster". We don't wanna drink $10-$20 drinks in a barn looking place where the tables and seats wiggle as you lean. Good luck with the business, hopefully things switch up a bit and word of mouth becomes positive, thus far it...
