Hero's Sports Grill & Entertainment Center — Restaurant in Bangor

Nice environment and plenty of TV's as well as a few arcades. I don't know what he is trying to achieve here, whether it be a family friendly restaurant or a hardcore sports vsr. The facility accommodates both however it walks the line as to what it truly is thus presenting the customer with the dilemma of whether it's kid friendly family fun, or 5 o'clock Friday afternoon bar time. The food is very good especially the sweet chili wings. I haven't tried the pizza but I've heard it is excellent. I didn't eat or drink at the bar (which is adjacent to the dining room all in an open air style building) so I cannot give you my opinion as the whether or not the drinks are good or the service is good. He did do pretty decent job decorating the place as there isn't any empty areas on the walls. There isn't a whole lot of unique sports memorabilia, but then again this is Bangor Maine, and we are two states away from any professional sports franchise and the local sports scene is an absolute joke and the college sports here hasn't had anything to root for since '42-1-2'. I'm in town for a week and thought I would venture out beyond the restaurants around the mall. One of the people at the shop I was working at recommended Hero's so I figured I would give it a shot. Sat at the bar and asked if we could put the Seahawks game on. The bartender quickly changed one of the TV's for me. She was very nice and attentive with a genuine smile. I asked her for a recommendation on beer and she picked a winner. Ordered the wings with the hottest sauce they had (the insane/insanity is not available). They were great and hit the spot. Only complaint is the hours as the game was before halftime when I got the last call. It is strange when I come to the northeastern states. Bars around my neighborhood south of seattle are pretty much open till midnight or later. No biggy I have an early morning so it's probably for the better. Went there to enjoy a nice birthday dinner and watch our NFL team play in their playoff game. The game was on which was great but no volume so we asked if they could turn the volume on so we could hear it. We were told they only turn the volume on for New England Patriots games. Well the Pats were out and our team was playing. As there were many other tables there for the same game. Also, asked to get some chips to take home with the other half of the dip we didn’t eat, it was made out to be an inconvenience and I told the waitress to just forget it. Not to mention they only gave us half the amount of chips we needed to eat the dip in the first place. Rant over. Poor customer service. And I won’t be going there in the future to enjoy any...
