Every year my company makes an annual trip to Bangor and Sea Dog is always a must. While we were sitting separately, there were about 20 of us present. This was my second visit since 2019 and I was looking forward to returning. I had ordered a drink and provided ID when the waitress advised that she would run my ID by the bartender which was understandable. I am not from the area and she was doing her job correctly. The waitress returned and offered me a lemonade instead. I proceeded to tell her that I was of age and she continued to offer a non-alcoholic beverage. Upon returning, I had asked for the manager and provided 4 more additional forms of ID. After about 15 minutes and multiple employees taking a glance at my identification, the manager returned and proceeded to question if my first name was really my first name. He proceeded to ask for a bank card which also had my photo and full name. The manager concluded that I was “all set” and walked away. His dismissive attitude and condescending tone was completely inappropriate. The quality of service I had experienced was completely unacceptable and I question the integrity of the restaurants ability to verify a simple ID. This experience made my colleagues and I highly uncomfortable and unwanted in the restaurant. As a person of color, this also made me completely uncomfortable as I question if the staff is able to handle a diverse clientele. It’s extremely disappointing that our company actively makes an effort to go to our favorite spot and they continues to not have the effort reciprocated. If you’re looking to be berated at lunch or dinner, this restaurant would be at the top of the list. If not, I would not recommend this place to any family or friend.
P.S. - For the manager who felt the need to question my name, you can verify it per...
Read moreOrdered a lunch meal on 13 May to be delivered the next day to my Mother-in-Law for lunch on Mothers Day. The original delivery time was around 12:30. My mother-in-law lives in assisted living in Brewer and we live in Virginia.
We began getting messages that the order was delayed to 1-15, then another stating the order was delayed until 1:30.
My mother-in-law had not had lunch where she resides because the staff were waiting on her order to be delivered, and we notified them of the new delivery time.
We called Sea Dog and talked to a manager who explained that during their lunch rush, their ticket system to the kitchen went down for around 10 mins, and that they were about an hour to an hour and a half behind on orders. The manager told us that our order should be delivered by the 1:30 time frame and would check to ensure it was taken care of.
We told them that we understood, and thanked them for checking and their assurance that the delivery would go out.
Within 3 mins after talking to the Sea Dog Manager, they cancelled the order. No explanation was given, and we were then told that they had closed for the day.
Luckily, the facility my mother-in-law is in had enough leftovers to give her lunch.
What we didn’t understand was the managers claim that they had customers waiting in restaurant for over an hour and a half for their meals when they only had a down time of 10 mins in tickets and the time frame didn’t match the supposed wait time. Additionally, our order had been placed the day before, so it should have already been printed and waiting this morning well before their system went down.
Overall very disappointed by this event. At least they could have told us that they were going to cancel the order instead of assuring us it was still going to...
Read moreWent on a Friday night which tends to be very busy as we all know. Because I used to do this for a living myself I feel the Host staff was very confused and very disorganized. They needed a leader. When we got there there was a wait, no problem Friday night totally expected that, but nobody really had a job, seems that everybody was running around trying to achieve the same thing. It looked like 3 hosts and possibly 2 manager/supervisors kind of running the front. Just a word of advice, one person should be greeting and taking names for the wait and then that person to be instructing on where the other hosts go, as far as checking what tables are now available, coming back to report and then others being instructed to seat and where. The basically the person taking names should never be leaving the front . And this was not happening at all so nobody knew what was going on . Again nothing against this restaurant, this is not a bad review, been to this place many times and once we were seated service was great, Chelsea R was our server and she was very attentive. Food was good, seem to be enough on the menu to hit everyone's liking. It just seems the front of the house at the door can have a better work experience if it was a little more organization. And again I used to open up restaurants and did it for over 10 years and I was the lead trainer of the FOH, so this was my specialty. You're thinking about going somewhere that has a nice view and a great deck this is definitely a...
