My recent visit to LongHorn Steakhouse in Bangor, Maine left me with an overwhelmingly negative impression. From the moment we walked in, it was apparent that the establishment lacked the basic elements of a pleasant dining experience.
Upon entering the restaurant, there was no hostess to greet us, which immediately set a discouraging tone for the day. The waiting area was tainted with an unpleasant odor, emanating from what appeared to be a poorly maintained kitchen. This initial impression did not bode well for our overall expectations.
To our surprise, despite there being a considerable number of empty tables, the hostess informed us of a 15-minute wait. This situation was puzzling, as it was evident that the restaurant had ample space to accommodate guests without any delay. To add to the frustration, one of the servers was visibly disengaged, spending her time on her cell phone in full view of the waiting area. This unprofessional behavior further diminished our confidence in the restaurant's commitment to quality service.
The hostess's attitude towards us was nothing short of rude, which was disheartening, especially given the circumstances. It felt as if our presence was an inconvenience rather than a valued opportunity for the restaurant to provide a positive experience.
Regrettably, our party decided to leave and seek dining options elsewhere. The accumulation of these negative aspects ultimately led us to conclude that LongHorn Steakhouse in Bangor, Maine, was not a place we would be returning to in the future.
In summary, the lack of a warm welcome, the unpleasant smell, the unoccupied tables, the distracted server, and the discourteous hostess all contributed to a deeply unsatisfactory visit to LongHorn Steakhouse. With so many dining choices available, I cannot recommend this particular location to anyone seeking a pleasant and enjoyable...
Read moreWe had a surprisingly nice meal the other night at Longhorn! I say "surprisingly" before I generally dont expect to be raving about a meal from a chain restaurant where the food is usually "serviceable"but hardly anything to write home about. But our dinner was really good!
It was my husband's birthday and so he got to pick where we ate. I was hoping he would pick sushi but he wanted steak. I don't think there's a fancy steakhouse in Bangor, so Longhorn it was.
We started with drinks - a beer for him and a classic margarita for me. They brought me the shaker and for the price of a $9 drink, I would say they're were about the equivalent of 2.5 glasses. Not a bad way ro start off!
Oir waiter was friendly and attentive. He brought us warm bread and butter. The butter could have been a bit softer, but that's nitpicking.
We shared the stuffed mushroom appetizer and ai think that was actually my favorite part of the meal. It was delicious. Cheesy and so good.
For dinner, my husband chose the full rack of ribs which would have easily been enough for us both, with the side salad. He says the salad was nice and fresh, and the ribs fell off the bone. He loved them. The side of fries was also good. Nice and crispy.
I chose the rib eye. And I "upgraded" to a salad with grapes, strawberries, oranges and pecans. Really delicious. Very good sized for a side salad. The rub eye wasn't on thrme bone sadly, but was cooked medium rare as I had asked and seasoned really nicely. The creamed spinach side was stellar. Really good.
We skipped dessert since there was birthday cake waiting at home.
We will definitely go back. Its a pretty restaurant with nice decor and a huge menu, so I would love to try some...
Read moreAnother failure. I'm done trying. I ordered the 9 oz filet medium to medium rare. They were busy and I wanted to give the cook a little range to work with. I'm really not too picky. It came out and when I touched it with my fork it was obviously rare. I waited for the waiter (who was excellent) to stop by to cut into it. I wanted him to see how simple it is to tell if a steak is rare, by touch. I cut into it and he responded, "Oh my god." To his (and the restaurant's) credit, he offered to either cook it again or replace it with another one. I hate wasting food, so I asked for it to be cooked to somewhere in the medium rare to medium range. I just wanted it to be warm. You probably shouldn't recook a $30 filet after it's rested for 15 minutes, but again.. it's that or waste. I also ordered the cheese stuffed mushrooms. What i got was a cheese soup with 6 mushrooms in it. It was sloppy, soaked, and disgusting. It in no way resembled the description or the picture. Finally, the brown gravy.. sigh. It was really bad. I'm pretty sure someone tasted it and thought that adding a lot of steak sauce to it would help. It didn't. It tasted like a vinegar-based accidental concoction. The service was great, the supporting cast of bussers and hosts were great. The manager comped the steak without telling me, which was the correct thing to do and appreciated. However, I spent 2 hours on the road to give this another try and it wasn't worth that at any...
