Read morePros-Front staff was VERY NICE. Lately everytime we have smoked wings (other places) they are so salty, these were not, they were good. We talked with the woman up front and she made a good suggestion, to stay away from rubs as they are pretty salty. Good choice. I believe we had the sauced honey BBQ. They were delicious. The beans were good, but they seemed like prefab beans that were doctored up, but again, were good. The hash brown casserole was pretty good. We did like the fact that you did get 2 sides. Place was clean. We liked the fact you could see the kitchen and most were cleaning up after themselves and under things.
Cons-the brisket was under done (cooked, just not tender) and lacked any smoked flavor, the green beans were like canned green beans and soggy and very greasy, with bacon and onion, the bacon was fat pieces and no bacon or onion taste. The Mac & cheese was elbow pasta with shredded cheese thrown on it. It was a glob mess! Cornbread was grilled on one side and burnt, dry and grainy. Would have liked more sauce options, their sauce is watery, would like more of a thicker sauce (personal preference for a thicker sauce) . We were hoping for more of a platter option of a little of each item, but didn't offer that, only 1 option items. Pricing wasn't horrible, but we had expected we could (again) have a platter option. Very small portions for the cost.
I will give 5 stars for staff...
Read moreVery cozy and friendly. We enjoy the atmosphere and find it to be very kid-friendly as well. Just the right volume to make us feel like the heathens aren’t being a disturbance to others 😂. Options for everyone and a rotating menu so no one ever gets bored. The sides are the perfect size to encourage you to get something new, and I’ve even seen staff allow customers to “sample” items if they’re on the fence about committing. I’ve never had that issue, though; give me a pint of everything and a whole pan of the slaw! The staff is very accommodating and always makes sure you’re informed and enjoying yourself as well as your food. The restaurant itself is very clean and the staff always makes sure that every available table is clean and ready. You’d think in a BBQ joint their bathrooms would have caution tape around them but not the case at Moes Bangor! Also, a surprise to me was the chicken tenders! So crispy! There’s no way they don’t have some secret seasoning combo on those, either, because they just taste..different. I’d return...
