I’m not usually the type to leave a review but I was so upset so I wanted to leave a review. I have been stressed and busy running around so I thought I would order take out so I wouldn’t need to cook at home. I’ve heard wonderful things about Firehouse from my brother who always gets their calzones, so I ordered a bacon and pineapple calzone from them for take out. I was honestly way too excited for this calzone! I get there, pay the $14 and go to the car. I open up the pizza box and there is this tiny little flop of bread. I’m not even exaggerating! I am a petite 5’3” and have a small hand and that thing was the size of my hand!! I basically just paid $14 for a small slice of pizza!!! I honestly thought they gave me a wrong order so I went back in and told them I think I was given the wrong order and this thing is super tiny and wasn’t even sure if it was a calzone. They open it up and say that it only looks small because they had to use a pizza box rather then their normal to-go containers since they were out and that it was the normal calzone size. Ummmm, sorry but no. My brother who has gotten calzones from them is a big boy who eats a lot of food and will get full off their calzones and he sure as heck wouldn’t order them again if they were that tiny and didn’t come with any side! Especially not for $14!! I was so upset when she told me that but I just raised my brow and told her I would not have paid so much for something so tiny! I went back to the car, picked it up to at least try it, and it was cold and so dense. It was honestly not even good. Such a waste of money! I left and went out of the way to go to Subway where they made the best sub right in downtown Barre! Such nice people, perfectly made sub, and I left there smiling and very satisfied! And paid half the price for my “calzone” from Firehouse and was very filled after eating their sub. I will never get a calzone from Firehouse again and am SO disappointed in the service I got when I went back in concerned and upset about my order. I should have just left it on the counter for them to keep. I’m not the type for confrontation and try to be kind even when others are unkind to me or don’t offer customer satisfaction. I didn’t treat the ladies in any wrong way but they didn’t care that I was even...
Read moreBeen wanting to try this place for months now. I've driven by it multiple times and said this place looks nice. Never read reviews, had I read them, I definitely would have never come here. The good: our server was very friendly. The place was cute and clean. Loved the decor. The bad: food was disgusting. Got the potato skins, they weren't crispy, more like mushy and soft. Bacon was burnt. Fried pickles I didn't expect a whole pickle. But it was very flavorless. Husband ordered the Chris Club. It was ok, had we realized it came out cold we would've asked for it to be warmer. I got the Buffalo chicken wrap. I looked at it and it looked displeasing. Took a bite of it and decided to not even eat it. To come to a restaurant thats not a fast food chain, I expect real chicken. Not frozen chicken cubes that come from a bag. And for a buffalo chicken wrap i didnt expect buffalo sauce to be drizzled on my wrap. I expected the chicken to be coated in it then placed on the wrap. My fries tasted like gas station fries. They weren't even cooked all the way.
A message to the owner: I am extremely appalled by your comments to guest who are PAYING to eat at your restaurant. My husband was a head chef at a restaurant in stowe and I also was a server at a different restaurant in stowe during COVID. Regardless of Staffing shortages, your food should still come out hot and with flavor. And the staff should be respectful. I can only imagine how you talk about guests or your employees behind their backs based on your comments to your guests in these reviews. I am shocked and completely disgusted. If Staffing shortages are effecting the qualify of the food and putting to much stress on the kitchen staff, shorten your menu. Change business hours so servers aren't being burnt out. Or close your doors. Do better.
Edit in response to the owners comment: I know what frozen chicken looks like. That definitely is not cooked fresh daily, but nice try. My waitress only came over twice to check on us. My husband ate 5 bites oh his ChrisClub. One day your negative responses to customers is exactly why I state you talk badly behind your staff and customers. It's not ludricis. You have not once addressed a negative review you have received...

Had a wonderful experience as soon as we entered the restaurant, the hostess immediately came over and asked how many in our party, and quickly found seating available for us.
Our waitress not 1 min later and took our drink orders.
We put in our appetizer and meal orders.
The food came out hot and fresh. Plate presentation was 10/10
The taste was spot on!
Our waitress:
Tonight we had " EMMY " we would like to thank her for doing such a good job , we didn't even have to ask she was on top of everything from start to finish.
We finished the night here with a couple of their desserts ....
DESSERTS:
" strawberry shortcake ( ala mode ) "
" Lemon creme cake ( ala mode ) "

Definitely will stop by here again to try something else on their menu , I know we won't be disappointed.
What a beautiful restaurant here with lovely decorations inside reflecting the current season we are in. You almost completely forget there is a pandemic happening while dining here. Ladder 1 grill has done a wonderful job.
