Highly suggest saving your money and going elsewhere for good pizza. This restaurant tries to ooze "high class pizza" but fails desperately. If you enjoy Wood-Fire Pizza, you can find far better elsewhere and not nearly as expensive. Our waiter was more concerned about chatting up other tables taking "Instagram selfies" then taking our order. It wasn't a particularly busy evening either and we waited 30mins to place our order. He waiter didn't even serve us our food. Other waitstaff and a cook brought out our food because the waiter was still chatting up other tables excessively over social media. Our waiter then took another 30mins after we were done eating and waiting to pay our bill so we could leave. Also, one of the cooks working with the oven dropped so much food on the floor while cooking and was burning so many of the dishes he was preparing. We saw him on multiple occasions for takeout orders try scrapping off burnt areas before sending them out. Very unprofessional. I feel bad for any of the folks who may have gotten those orders. Overall, just a bummer of an evening. Which is really too bad. We were actually looking forward to trying...
Read morePearl Street Pizza has the best pizza in the Barre-Montpelier-Berlin area. Thick, hearty focaccia-style crust, thick melted cheese, and punch-you-in-the-face flavor from toppings makes it great.
I've been trying all the pizza places in the area because I thought there must be some really good slices around, but I've always been disappointed... until now.
This isn't the thin-as-a-wafer-glorified-cracker you'll find at other wood-fired pizza places. This pizza is THICCCK.
The secondary flavors at Pearl Street are what make it great. I shared a pepperoni slice and a mushroom slice (one slice is very big. I couldn't even finish one on my own). The mushroom was deeply creamy and set off by rosemary. The pepperoni was taken to the next level of zesty spice with what appeared to be Arrabbiata sauce and chili flakes.
I'm ecstatic that good pizza has finally come to the area. To top it all off, they also have a dedicated beer tap to the best lager-maker in New England - Shilling Beer Co.
If you like flavorful food and...
Read moreWe’re from out of town (Pennsylvania) visiting family when we decided to try this place out. So this is coming from someone who isn’t wearing rose colored glasses when it comes to small town eats. We ordered three pizzas: classic cheese, a pepperoni, and a margherita pizza. We also got their garlic bread.
The marg was by far my favorite. The crust and the sauce were perfect. The pepperoni was really good, as well. It had a bit more heat than I was expecting but I love spicy foods, so it was a welcome surprise. And honestly I didn’t get a chance to try the cheese pizza. My kids ate that one up real quick. So I guess it gets an A+ on a scale of whether or not it’s kid approved.
You could tell that the garlic bread is freshly made. It’s not just some Texas Toast they threw in the oven and melted cheese over. That was pretty good, as well.
Employees and service were great. Very friendly people and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice.
In short: next time we’re in town we’ll...
