Heard a lot of hype for this restaurant. Had high hopes for my first visit. The menu is a little confusing to me. Cluttered. Ordering at the counter was also confusing. Two registers and about five employees hanging around them. Only one cashier actually addressing the customers. They were very polite though. I don't like the drink situation either. You have to fight people ordering and standing around waiting for their order to get a drink or refill. The restaurant is unstocked as far as salt, pepper, or condiments and napkins also. Anyways to the food. I ordered a double cheese, cheddar hashbrowns, and cup of chili. The chili was very meaty and pretty good. Very small amount though. The hashbrowns also were very good but only about 5 to the order. The cheeseburger on the other hand was the surprise. I took the first bite of it and I was transformed back into my parents backyard and putting together a cheeseburger from my mom's grill. Thick raw slice of white onion, mayo and slice of cheese topped my burger. It truly was a backyard cookout taste. Absolutely wonderful. Had a large iced tea with it also. All for $4.99. Great value for great food. UPDATE. I had a bad experience customer service wise last week. Ordered in the drive thru for the first time. I checked the bag before I drove away and they didn't include either of my sides. I brought it to the attention of the guy in the window and he rolled his eyes and ask me to hold on. He handed me a piece of aluminum foil and I said I ordered two quesadilla and he said they were both in there. I pulled up to check and there was only one. I went inside to ask for what I ordered and the front counter is so disorganized it took at least 20 mins to get one quesadilla. By then the rest of my order was cold. Very disappointed. I would like to be contacted by the manager but good luck with that. All because of a smug little lying ass hat in the window I probably won't be back to...
Read more7970 US Hwy 64 (Stage Road) Memphis, TN I am sitting in the parking lot of The Cookout and I am FURIOUS. My order was placed in drive thru where I was asked to repeat it TWICE. When I received my bbq plate, it had slaw on it (though I said "no slaw") & they gave me regular fries. I went "back" through driv thru and was told to pull to the window where I repeated the order AGAIN -indicating cajun fries and no slaw. The young lady at the window asked me twice whether I wanted slaw and I told her that my child did not like slaw. They sprinkled cajun seasoning on my fries and gave me the SAME sandwich that included slaw. I got BACK in the drive thru line and went to the window where I requested a Manager. The RUDEST employee that I have ever encountered at this establishment which me and my family frequent was NOT respectful, did NOT listen, brushed off my dissatisfaction -blaming ME for the experience by stating that I did not specify that I did not want slaw "on the sandwich". She was argumentative DESPITE a sign posted in the Cookout window cautioning employees on how to handle customer complaints. No slaw means no slaw whether on the sandwich or on the side so her argument was entirely invalid as well as incredulously ignorant. She grabbed my plate and flounced to the back to correct my order and gave it to the guy at the window to pass to me instead of ensuring my satisfaction and apologizing for her crew's mistake. I asked for her name and verified that she was in charge. I was told her name is Tabitha. I will anxiously await a response from your establishment for this unsatisfactory, non-customer friendly behavior. If I do not hear from you presently, I will thoroughly examine ALL options to resolve this complaint. Thank you for your time and assistance. My husband and I have been long time customers to the Cookout fastfood chain. We usually hardly ever have any issues or complaints until this past visit. I have a severe tomato allergy and was discriminated upon because of said allergy. We have never ever been charged for Cookout sauce ever until tonight. We previous were told by management that it was one special sauce per order, that was fine. I'm one person, all I need is one sauce. Every fastfood restaurant I have ever been to never ever charged me for one sauce because I can't help I was born this way. The manager on duty was so ugly towards my husband and I. He was full of attitude and irritability. He made it seem like it was the end of the world for us to even ask why I couldn't have a sauce. I told the young man that took my order that we wanted Cookout sauce and he said "sure, no problem" but he ran our card without charging us for the sauce. We tried explaining that there is a surcharge on our card per transaction and did not want to spend $2.95 plus the price of the sauce for 1 sauce when we literally just spent almost $20 on dinner. Overall it was just a terrible experience. Also on top of all this, I specifically asked for no cheese, because of a dairy intolerance and of course there was cheese on my burger, so the majority of my sauceless meal I could...
