Called in for carry out. Got there in about 10 minutes and my food was ready. Quick! Just how I like it.

At MOST Viet restaurants that offers combination banh mi dac biet, it includes at least 3 different cold cuts of meats along with a spread of Viet mayo and pate. When I asked them about their combination dac biet, they said it only came with one cold cut meat, the liver pate is considered a meat...now what??? How could you consider a spread a meat? It's like me ordering a plate of fruits and you give me strawberry jam and say "Well this is the strawberries on your fruit tray." Huh???

I said okay just give me your most popular banh mi. She responded "Pork is our most popular." Now, I received a cold cut bbq char siu pork, which is confusing. Reason is, when you go to any Viet place and order a pork banh mi, it's automatically grilled pork. You would never think they would give you a cold cut pork that belonged in a combination banh mi. I realized they had all 3 cold cut meats that goes into any combination banh mi, but they don't put them together?! It's so backwards lol not sure if it's a Baton Rouge thing, but I've had banh mi all over the U.S...this is the only place in the south that has done the Banh Mi wrong =( bread wasn't even nice and flaky on the outside. Not enough pate and mayo, sliced pork didn't have much taste and mostly fat.

We enjoyed the Vietnamese chicken wings, flavor was great was nice and crispy. I also ordered the pork spring rolls. Marinade on the pork was great, no need for the dipping sauce. From tasting the sweet and spicy nuoc mam that was paired with my spring rolls, it was great!

They don't water down their sweet fish sauce for the American customers =X so I can tell that their grilled meat vermicelli dishes are probably really good...just from the grilled meat in my spring roll and fish sauce. I'll be back to try...

This basically destroyed Vietnamese food! Came here with my wife yesterday to try this place for the first time. We both love such food type and have a lot of experience with Vietnamese food. We ordered the shrimp wrap for appetizer and two main dishes; the fried rice and the noodle dish, both with shrimps, and the fried rice dish with additional chicken and beef. First of all, the smell of the "uncleanliness" of the meat was absolutely horrendous!! This basically messed up all the dishes. The "fish" smell and taste, again unclean and abnormal to have, were just unbearable to even taste. Though we tried to dip in a bit, our stomachs literally went upside down when the food have barely touched our tongues. We literally left the entire dishes as is. I have no idea how other people there were able to smell their food, yet alone eat it. Our strong recommendation is not only to strictly avoid this place but we will be reporting this place , without prior notice, to the department of health and food safety, because we are sure the food is neither safe, nor fresh, nor does it comply with any food standards. To whoever is reading this from the restaurant, if you do not address this problem immediately and very seriously, you will be the only...

Its the first time i visited the restaurant since the Pandemic. The menu became shorter but the taste still remain amazing. We ordered bam bam shrimp and vietnamese style wings for appetizers and they didnt disappoint. The shrimp was different from the same dish i tried in other restaurants. I think its tempura fried in here and the crisp with the sauce was amazing. We ordered Shrimp fried rice, Bun bo hue and a noddle soup (might be hu tieu & Mi). Everything was so delicious we were very satisfied. The staff was very accomadating as my friends do not eat pork or beef they had an option to order their entree with chicken broth and seafood option. We even ordered Thai tea and taro coconut milk with bobba and OMG they were so so so good. Right sweetness and right texture of the bobba made it more satisfying with the spiceness of our entrée. The only negative i felt (personal view totally) i didnt care much of the fish sauce smell the chicken wings had right when they were brought to the table. Eventually the smell faded...

I eat here 1-2x a month. The restaurant has a number of good dishes, and the service is consistently good. When I eat at Bao, I usually order the vegan pho. The broth is tasty and has a few hints of spices that are different than what you might find closer to New Orleans. The vegan pho is only available is a large, which, of course, is a tremendous amount of soup. In the pho, you will find a good amount of lemongrass tofu, some vegetables, and some sort of leafy thing that has an interesting flavor, but I haven’t figured out what it is yet. The pho is served with a side of basil, sprouts, cilantro, and jalapeño. I’ve also tried the zoodle vermicelli with tofu. The zoodles are a good alternative to the rice noodles, but carry an up charge. As with the pho, the tofu had a good flavor and was grilled. Sometimes this place gets pretty busy, but I’m normally able to find a seat.

Pretty decor inside. The front area with the fountain and gate is fun and pretty too. I can see why this place got voted top viet spot in Baton Rouge's 225. I got the combo pho. The soup was good, it had some flavor, but tasted thin. There was plenty of meat, tendon, and tripe. They have a drink menu with sweet iced drinks averaging $6 and some beer and sake selections. Although it's named bao, there weren't any bao buns? Service didn't take too long, and there were many tables spread out. Free parking in the lot. It's right next to an Asian grocery store too. Not the best pho I've had but passable. I could come here again for pho or something else.
