I'll start off by saying if I could have given this place of business a zero-star rating I would not hesitate to do so! It has nothing to do with the quality of food, it's some of the individuals whom are employed at the Essen Lane location. It was myself and my significant other, we ordered a water w/ lemon and an iced tea, contemplating whether or not we wanted to order cocktails, never got to that point! The waitress was really dry and just seemed like she didn't want to be at work. She would come and say over and over, "Are you ready to order yet, I'll come back." Never giving us time to order. The third time around she comes and takes our order. We ordered a Soft Shell Roll and a Spicy Crab Roll as well as one Clear Soup, the soup came maybe 7 minutes after we ordered and this waitress only had four tables in her section, it wasn't that busy to take so long! It took all of 25 minutes to bring something so simple, I received a phone call that needed my immediate attention. I had to leave and I needed to cancel my order, I finally got the attention of my waitress after so many attempts, guess what?? Still no damn sushi!! At this point I politely requested that the order be cancelled, she replied, "They've already started making the rolls." So we are now going backward and forward as it concerns my right to cancel an order whenever I feel like it! I proceed to ask for a manager, this lady didn't get the store manager, she went and got the kitchen manager and he was just as ignorant and self-absorbed as she was! I explained the situation to him and he argued with me telling me the same story she told me about how the food was already made and they brought it to me in a To-go box even though I made it perfectly clear that I wanted to cancel my order after I've already waited 25-30 minutes for something so simple. He was very rude and nasty and told me over and over, "You don't understand!" Very rudely! I told him, "No, you are the one that doesn't understand very well. As a patron I have the right to cancel my order." Before things got out of control, I simply told him that he should not be going back and forth with any patron! And how rude and unprofessional he was! I am a college graduate by the way and I have a damn good job, also in Real Estate, with that being said I'll spread the word to all of my corporate/professional associates! I'll continuously patronize Tsunami's and I hope that $19 check takes you far, because you will never see another wooden nickel of mine! I WILL NEVER RETURN/PATRONIZE ICHIBAN EVER IN LIFE!! IF YOU EVER GET AROUND TO READING THIS, I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO KNOW THAT YOUR FAT ASS WAS VERY RUDE WITH ALL OF THAT SWEAT DRIPPING FROM YOUR HEAD!! A tip for the waitress, since I didn't leave you a monetary tip, I'll give you a verbal tip: "Don't eat Egg Salad if you plan on riding...
Read moreMy daughter and I went here for lunch on a weekday. We were seated at a table for two right behind the hostess counter. First of all, the table seating itself was very uncomfortable because the table is mounted on a stand with a base nearly the entire size of the table, leaving zero room for your feet to go. And this table location is essentially like sitting in a hallway, because every other group who comes or goes passes single file next to your table.
We both ordered the steak and chicken hibachi lunch. [Let me also interject that I had checked the prices prior to going and their website shows lower prices than their menu does. If you're going to jack up your prices, you need to make sure that your menu online reflects the same.] I ordered my steak medium well. My daughter ordered her steak medium. A runner brought our food instead of our waitress, or we probably would've pushed the issue, because when he brought it, he said, "here's the chicken and steak well done." I said "neither of us ordered well done. I ordered medium well" and before I could tell him that she ordered medium, he said "oh this is medium well, not well done. I was just kidding" and he set it down in front of me. Then he handed her hers without even clarifying what it was. when she cut into her steak, it was brown all the way through. I would tell you what mine looked like when you cut into it, but the pieces were so small there wasn't any "cutting into" to be done. Let me tell you what they did: they took one steak and divided it between the two of us. I guarantee they cooked it the exact same way and just threw different pieces on each plate. Mine looked like what they cut off of a steak instead of actual pieces of steak. when we were done eating and ready to get boxes and pay, our waitress was tending to the table behind us. Instead of allowing us to catch her eye to ask for a box and our check, she walked all the way around the grouping of tables instead of passing us and I had to go find her to tell her we were ready for our check and that we needed a box. When you're serving during lunchtime, you need to be mindful that people are there while they are on their lunch break and don't have a lot of time to wait.
The delay with the server was really not the major issue. We were really disappointed with the cooking and quality of the cuts of meat. However, with the flippant response of the food runner and the absent waitress, we didn't feel like it would help to make an issue of the...
Read moreWent here for a late lunch and nothing about the experience was pleasant. First, seated and took over 15 mins for a server to come ask for our drink order. They explained it was in the middle of a shift change, so ok...I can understand we slipped through the cracks. Next, the dishes placed on our table still have left on food stuck onto it from previous dishes served. We asked for new dinnerware, clean dinnerware. My daughter cancelled her California roll order bc she feared getting sick since our dishes were not clean and the lighting so low. Then we watched as a table seated much later than us received their soup while we still waited on ours. Finally we receive our soup where it did not taste good...at all. I’ve visited many Japanese establishments with a variety of soup flavors but this one disappointed at a very high degree. The seafood salad was also terrible. At this point, I decided we should just stop this dinning experience while we were ahead. When a server came out (not ours, but one helping our server) I politely asked her to ask our server to cancel our order and bring the bill. She inquired why and I shared with her our experience. She decided to tell us a joke. My daughter later questioned why would the server pick this time to tell us a joke. Not positive, I explained, maybe she wanted one part of our visit to be pleasant?? Then the manager came over, I explained it wasn’t anyone’s fault but rather a sequence of events and a distaste for the food in why we felt it best to close out. The manager spoke to our server who later brought our bill in which we were charged full price for 2 uneaten soups (except one bite from each) and a bite from the seafood salad. Having been raised in restaurants and worked in them for much of my younger years, I was disappointed by the entire experience. I do not often write negative reviews, but I was so disappointed by this one, I felt prompted to write about our experience to let others know. My kids and I ended up at Wendy’s drove thru because we were still hungry and needed to eat. I certainly hope if you decide to try this place your experience is much different from ours. Otherwise, in the mood for good Japanese, try someplace...
