I don’t review places often but we make a point to support local businesses as frequently as we can. I think the Ice cream is great and they always find new ways to keep flavors rotating so everyone can find a flavor that fits their tastes. The atmosphere is very simple but cute and reminds me of boardwalk shops I grew up going to.

The only issue I run into is the service. I know it is hard to find good help in any business but on several occasions we have given this place a shot and just had terrible customer experiences. Tonight we came in at 9:30 and one of the employees threw a physical tantrum because we came in 30 minutes before closing. I get it, you want to leave and get out as quickly as possible. Believe me I have been there. But that is the face of your business and they are telling people not to come in with that type of body language. If it was a one off thing I wouldn’t write a review but this is a habit at this point and if it affects me then I am sure other people are...

The ice cream is delicious, at least the one I ate was. I had the Salted Toffee Pecan. There were close to a dozen flavors on offer.

The staff were great, the transaction quick and pleasant, and the outdoor picnic tables were a nice touch.

The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is due to the noise of the Interstate, an elevated portion of which kind of hangs over the top of the place . . . not literally, as the Interstate is about 40 feet away, but it sure sounds like it's right on top of you if you sit at one of the shaded picnic tables outside.

Other than that, Gail's is a great place to get a cold treat on a hot day. I will be going back soon!

UPDATE: I dropped in around 3.15 PM midweek. They still have an array of interesting and delicious ice creams available in many sizes and configurations. Very tasty!

It seems that time of day is popular with the pre-school post-school day crowd. If you don't like being around young children you may want to avoid the 3-4 PM time...

Came in at 1:00pm on a Sunday. Only 5 flavors of ice cream were available (two of which were just two different flavors of vanilla). The only staff member that appeared to be working was rude and seemed annoyed that someone walked through the door. Salted Caramel was listed on the menu board as well as on a tag on the cooler window, but when I ordered that flavor, I was told they were out. I was going to order vanilla with toffee topping. I was told they were also out of toffee. My son tried the mint chocolate chip. My husband got the lemon blueberry. They were both okay. My husband's "fresh" waffle cone was soggy. My son's cake cone was stale. I walked out with nothing. Unfriendly staff + lack of flavors (even those advertised as available) = a very unpleasant first visit. We do not...

Great local ice cream shop! I do wish the flavors had more flavor, however! The scoop sizes were small as well. It was still a great value for the price they charge, but it left me hoping for more. A locally owned similar shop across the river in Port Allen off Highway 1 has more flavor, larger size scoops and more flavor options. I have no stake in either, but it was sharply in contrast with yesterday's experience at Maddie's.

THE BEST ICE CREAM!!! This was suppose to be a cool treat for my daughter but I ordered one for myself and then I ordered another one for myself lol, yep, I had TWO cones, the ice cream was just TOO GOOD to eat just one cone 🤷‍♀️ I love the prices and the loads of ice cream on each cone. The price is just great and the ice cream flavor is even greater 🩷 We will be making MANY return trips back here!!! July 2023
