I keep reading this is the best American Chinese food in town, so I decided to give them a try. And that's how I found my way to FLAVORTOWN.
Walking in, the shop is spotless. No sticky tables or floors, no faded decor or grease topped countertops. A modern, but simple style. Very clean.
The employees are exceedingly helpful and friendly. They offered me samples, and my only regret was not trying the samples before purchase, but only because I wound up trying a sample after I placed my order and liked what I tried, the Thai chicken, much more than what I ordered.
Is it the best General Tso's chicken in the city? I prefer a crunchier version, this one is very soft, but scrumptious. I also found it a little too sweet, and the sauce was almost jammy, so not in my opinion, but it was fresh and good, just not my cup of tea.
The mixed vegetables were a little too salty. I haven't read other complaints so this may be a one off. I will sample before I buy next time.
The rest of the food was super flavorful and definitely better than I have had elsewhere. Very fresh, quality ingredients and obvious attention to detail. I recommend the black pepper chicken and Thai chicken.
Still extremely deserving of 5 stars. Will 100 percent go again, I will just sample...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood was good, giant portions, weird service experience. It's Mall-style Chinese with better food and mall equivalent service.
Up front the prices are reasonable and they give you a lot of food. A few of the chicken dishes are samey and do not expect vegetable options. The spicier options were better like the thai chicken.
My service issue came when we ordered a kids meal. Its one entree and a side, so the lady puts it in a small white Styrofoam container the kind that is a one compartment clamshell. She puts rice in one side and then orange chicken in another and then closes it together and it all mixes. I tried to stop her but I saw it too late. She apologizes but doesn't offer to do anything.
On the way out I go to get a second small container so I can separate the rice and chicken that was leftover. The younger guy won't give me one. He says "We don't normally give these out." I walk away and he tries to call me back to give it to me, but I already know he doesn't want to give it to me.
I already paid for food for 2 adults and 1 child, including a tip. I don't understand the nickle and diming. Maybe people don't eat inside the place often? Surely the margins are there for an extra...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went here for the first time on Friday. It was delicious! I was promptly greeted by a nice young man when I entered the restaurant. He asked if it was my first time there. I told him yes, he then recommended a few things and gave me some samples. There was a lady behind the counter who was also really nice and recommended things as well. It was so hard to choose. But I went with Shrimp Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken and Mongolian Beef. All of that for just over $13. There was so much food on the plate. That my husband and I shared it. Every single bite was fresh and full of flavor. Great Food, Great customer service and a Great Price. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend giving them a try. We will definitely be going back.
