Recently we visited Olive Garden my husband and I and two friends. We were at a table where waitress was real new and needed more training desperately. We were all four of us unhappy with our entrees. The men ordered raspberry tea and it was far short of what we always receive there. The waitress did volunteer to bring more but it would have been the same thing so why. Each of us got a pasta dish and was not enough sauce on the pasta. It was very dry and when we ask for more sauce they said there was a charge for it. I have done this many times before and never has been a charge for extra sauce. To me they do not put enough sauce on the pasta to begin with this last time or before but always brought me more with no complaints. They also said to get more raspberry in the tea that would be an extra charge. We were very disappointed in the quantity and quality of the food. The serving portions were very small and our guys are big eaters. We asked for several items a couple of times each and never received them. After a while we just gave up on them. It will be a while before I go back. I don't think this manager that is there now knows what he's doing. There was another table close to us where he came out and talked with them because they asked to see him. So they apparently had a problem too. Upon entering the restaurant we noticed a foul smell like wet carpet. Never did figure out what that was. My husband and I both ordered soup rather than salad and the soup clearly needed more seasoning. It's like they have cut back on everything seasonings, portions, sauces...
Read moreWent here to celebrate a birthday with a small group. We were seated and ordered drinks and food. The drinks took quite a while to come out—even though the restaurant wasn’t busy—but no big deal.
However, from the moment we sat down, our server, Moses, never acknowledged any of us when we said "thank you" or tried to be polite. Not once. It felt cold and dismissive.
Then came the food. Out came our salad, Alfredo dip, and meals for the kids. I specifically told Moses that my son’s chicken needed to be grilled—he has a dairy allergy, and we discussed this when ordering. Instead of handling it professionally, he questioned me about it and said, “That’s why I asked if it was a gluten allergy.”
What does gluten have to do with a dairy allergy? And more importantly, how dare he question a mother about her child’s food allergy—something I deal with daily and know very well. After that, he walked away without another word, and the rest of us felt incredibly uncomfortable.
At that point, we just wanted to leave. I did ask for a manager (I know, “Karen” move—but it needed to be done), and I’m so grateful Jessie came over. He was kind, helpful, and took care of everything, including getting us a to-go box so we could head out and not have to deal with Moses again.
Huge thank you to Jessie for the great service and for handling the situation with professionalism. As for Moses—I truly hope he finds a job that brings him more happiness and helps him work on his listening and customer...
Read moreI have to brag about the staff here for a minute. My mother and I visited this location on 5/16/21 for an early lunch. We’re not from the Baton Rouge are but were in visiting family. We each ordered the Soup and Salad along with an appetizer as well as a beer. The soup and appetizer were hot, and the salad and beer were cold. Everything tasted great. After visiting family, on our way back home, I realized that I had left my wallet somewhere in Baton Rouge. We checked by calling all the places we had been that day and couldn’t find it. I called Olive Garden the next morning and the manager said that it had turned up the night we were there. I would’ve had family pick it up and send it to me to relieve Olive Garden of the hassle of shipping it but they had just left for vacation. I explained my situation to the manager and he agreed to FedEx my wallet to me. I, of course, covered the cost but was able to get my wallet back within a couple of days. I live on the Westbank and needed my wallet for the week. Anyone could’ve just swiped it up and no one would’ve known, but, thanks to the honesty and integrity of the staff at this location, I have my full wallet back with EVERYTHING in-tact without having to drive back to Baton Rouge. Thanks Olive Garden in Baton Rouge for your honesty and integrity and a great dining experience. ...
