La Mexicana — Restaurant in Louisiana

Not great. They had me at Chiles toreados but the lack of service ruined the experience and the food needs more care. They had some nice and very friendly girls working here but the European decent girl who "waited" on me did absolutely bare minimum. I would have preferred to fall back on my terrible Spanish than deal with someone that should not be in service. Looks like she should be in a methadone clinic or at home in her parents' trailer. I would have asked more but I only saw her when I placed the order and magically when I was finished eating. I went to wash my hands and the food had magically appeared. Never mentioned to pay at the front register so left me there until eventually I had to go ask for my check. More salsa would have been nice. Different salsa if they had it because it was a bit too canned crushed tomato and not hot. I would have also asked for lettuce, tomato and sour cream. Many places this will come with either the chimi or the toreados or both. The steak on my chimichanga was diced in tiny bits which seems strange and greasy. Reminded me of waffle house but maybe less steak tasting. Giving two stars because there were other people working who appeared...

I was in Baton Rouge for a business conference, I stumbled upon this place. Wow, just wow. Grocery store at front, a decent size restaurant at back. Prices are so low, you can go as a family and spend less than $80 or so.

First the chips and Salsa along with onion picket and two big bottles of red spicy sauce and green Jalapeno sauce. They are so effing awesome. I downed a Carona with the chips, salsa, onion pickle and those delicious sauce.

I ordered a chicken burrito. Rice, beans, chicken and all other flavors folded into a nice size burrito and wrapped perfectly. Chicke was perfectly cooked, tasted delicious. Add those green or red sauce to it for elevated experience.

I ordered churros for desert, it was piping hot, crispy and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Perfect for an afternoon pick me up.

So I had a Corona, Chicken Burrito, Churros, paid $16.73+ taxes. It was worth every pennny for me.

Service was great. Place was clean, I would highly recommend this place if you happen to visit...

This was the most disappointing eating experience I believe I've ever had! The food selection was slim to none, drink variety same thing...we went to celebrate my granddaughter and mine birthday with several others and we were given one little bitty baskets of chips..not nearly enough for all us and never offered more. Food quality not at all worth the money!!!Also, seen 2 roaches crawling on floor and at that moment we lost our appetite and decided to leave. I even told worker there about roaches not one apology was offered nor refund! Bad business. Will never return here and don't recommend this establishment to anyone!!!!
