Phil’s is a gem 💎 I enjoyed the entire dining experience from the hostess opening the door on entry to spectacular food and service and the family oriented atmosphere. The manager even came to table to ensure we were having a pleasant time.
If Gus is your waiter, you will be treated like royalty. He was polite, kind, and so friendly. He anticipated our needs and accommodated us in a timely manner.
Okay, now for the food. I spent $125.86 but it was worth every penny‼️
Starters: Crawfish cheesecake 10/10 - $14.99 - creaminess you get from a typical cheesecake with the flavors of crawfish etouffee and chunks of crawfish with every bite. The crust provides a great balance between the softness of the cake.
New Orleans BBQ Shrimp 10/10 - $15.99 - NOLA spice meets savory shrimp… they give you french bread to eat with the shrimp, you have to dip the bread in the sauce it’s Yummy 😋
Half-dozen Charbroiled Oysters 10/10 - $14.99 - one word… heavenly… oysters cooked to perfection with the original garlic butter sauce, It made us dance in our seats 😂
Entrees: I had a small sensation salad $3.99 and a cup of corn and crab bisque $6.99. Both 10/10 Simple, yet flavorful… salad was lite and fresh
Kids Fish $8.99 comes with 3pc fish and fries, cute kids drink, coloring page and crayons. My 5-year-old gave it 10/10! And he’s very picky and spice-averse. Everything was seasoned well and perfect kids portion
Daily Lunch Special - 10/10 - $15.99 Today was Chicken-fried chicken, mashed potatoes, white gravy and corn. The chicken was tender, nice crunch from the breading, simple mashed potatoes and corn, tasted like home.
Seafood Lillian - 9/10 - $26.99 Shrimp and crabmeat seasoned well over fettuccine Alfredo… it was delicious but needed a little more Parmesan cheese
Dessert: Phil's Homemade Bread Pudding - 8/10 - $8.99 A blend of bread, raisins, and a whiskey sauce. It was good, but I’m not a bread pudding fan. My family enjoyed it.

Read moreWe had just come out of a doctor's appointment and decided to have lunch in Baton Rouge. After checking what was in the area, my husband and I decided on Phil's Oyster Bar. We had never been to this location and it has been years since we went to the original location on Government Street. Oysters sounded good, so Phil's it was!
We were both highly disappointed in this location. Yes, it is near the University and we expected it to be on the crowded side for lunch. However, it was so noisy that you could not here the other person sitting right next to you talk! Way to noisy in there!
The food...we both ordered combo dinners. I got Oysters and Shrimp and my husband ordered Shrimp and Catfish. Both are served with french fries. We also ordered a soft drink each. The food was good, but nothing exceptional.
The price...my husband was not pleased with dropping $68.47 for lunch. Dinner would have been okay, but not for a lunch. That was for 2 entrees and 2 Sodas. That's a bit steep!
Service...our waitress was cordial and did a somewhat good job of keeping up with the huge crowd. My order came out wrong with Catfish and Shrimp instead of the Oysters and Shrimp. She took care of that and brought me some Oysters. I was disappointed in the Oysters. They were small and appeared to come out of a jar, rather than fresh Oysters that are plentiful around here while in season. Our visit was in April, so shouldn't have been a problem. The waitress told us not to worry about getting the mistake fixed, but our bill had a charge on it for adding to entree. This really ticked my husband off.
Sorry, Phil's I can't give you five stars! We won't be back either. There are other restaurants in the area that serve BIG and Juicy...

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Phil’s Oyster Bar & Seafood! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and full of character — a true Louisiana vibe that makes you feel right at home.
Garret provided outstanding service at the bar. Not only was he friendly and attentive, but he also took the time to walk me through the menu and helped me decide on a half fried shrimp, half grilled shrimp Po’ Boy — and wow, it was out of this world! Perfectly seasoned, fresh, and cooked just right. It hit all the right notes and I’m still thinking about it.
Of course, I can’t forget to mention Roy’s chargrilled oysters — hands down some of the best I’ve ever had. They were smoky, buttery, and bursting with flavor. You can tell Roy takes pride in what he does, and it shows on the plate.
If you’re anywhere near Baton Rouge, do yourself a favor and check out Phil’s. The food is incredible, the staff is top-notch, and the whole experience is something you’ll want to come back for again and again. Highly...
