Schlotzsky's — Restaurant in Battle Creek

Let me start off by saying, I love Schlotzsky's. Grew up eating it and then the restaurant went away. So I was very disappointed when I went to this location today. Also because I was so excited to have my husband try it for the first time.

First of all the photo is not what the location looks like. So that's misleading. The interior was fine, the restrooms could use some TLC though. We ordered or food just fine and waited at the table. Didn't take long, I got the original sandwich, and my husband got the turkey bacon. Mine was delicious exactly as I remembered. Why they got a 1 star from me is this: the turkey on the sandwich had gone bad. And I knew this because it tasted chemically and I thought I was going to throw up from that one bite. So I took it to the manager, he had no problem giving us a new sandwich, this time I ordered the original for my husband, since mine was so good. He didn't apologize but wasn't rude. The waitress brought it out and apologized to us. As my husband picked up his sandwich, there was a hair in the middle of the it. Actually multiple hairs. We were so disgusted and disappointed we were just done. I brought it to a server, told them what was wrong, told them to tell their manager, and that we didn't want another sandwich. We didn't even want our money back, we just wanted to leave... So disappointed. This has put a bad taste in our mouths, literally, of ever eating at another...

I was just going to let this go because things happen, but I was kind of given a hard time when I came in for my replacement. I bit into a piece of metal in my salad. It was flat but kind of thick. It was about an inch long and about 1 to 2 mm wide. It hurt when I bit it and I'm lucky it didn't injure me! I'm glad I didn't accidentally swallow it. I called them immediately and told them. I texted a picture of it to the guy I talked to on the phone. They offered to replace the salad. Honestly, I thought about never going back at that point. That's the kind of experience that really turns you off from a place ever again. When I went in for the replacement one of the guys kind of gave me a hard time about it. Came out and asked me how long ago it was (around 2 weeks) and told me i should have brought it back in. I just felt like he was giving me a hard time. I bit into a piece of metal in their food!!!!! Replacing it is the least of what they could do. They told me it was probably from a stainless steel...

This is the second time eating here and the second time my order was messed up. Caesar salad had no croutons. Last time it was chicken and the dressing. Your Caesar salads literally have four ingredients: lettuce, parmesan, croutons, and chicken, and a dressing packet. So how does the genius putting the lids on not notice something is missing? And the lids are clear so how does the other genius who packs the bags not notice that something is missing? My Reuban was missing the dressing, again. Again. Hello? Sandwich goes into bag, dressing goes into bag. How are so many people not noticing missing things? A mistake every once in a while is one thing, but this is simply a matter of not paying attention at all and it happens at this particular restaurant all the time. Those little things you keep forgetting to pack add up and we end up paying for a heck of a lot more than we're getting. Your restaurant is ripping people off daily and making no effort to change that. No thanks. Avoid...
