Don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews!!
OK..my husband and I tried this place based on the glowing reviews. We do not understand the 4 and 5 stars at all. I only gave it 5 stars so my review would be on top. Otherwise it goes to the bottom, where no one scrolls to read the 1's and 2's.
The 4 and 5 stars MUST be from friends and family. The 1's and 2's must be from actual customers. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs with country potatoes. The potatoes must have come from a bag and microwaved. They weren't crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. In fact they weren't even golden brown. They didn't see the hot side of a skillet or griddle and had ZERO seasoning. Not even salt and pepper. The eggs were school bus bright yellow...like more from a carton then maybe a chicken, and the chicken fried steak, pretty sure it was not freshly made either. His toast came over toasted, rock hard with no butter and nothing on his plate (or mine) was hot.
I ordered the biscuit and gravy. My biscuit (only one cut in half that was already half the size of a normal biscuit so it's not biscuitS and gravy) left a LOT to be desired. The biscuit appeared to also have been microwaved. It was doughy, like stuck on the roof of my mouth; under cooked doughy and the "crust" was soft and wrinkly. Like you might see from something moist being placed on a paper towel and reheated in a microwave. The hashbrowns were soft and greasy...no crispy side, they also did not see the hot side of a skillet. And the portions were something any other restaurant would serve off their child's menu. Then there was the coffee, watered down and flavorless.
OH and don't let me forget the over cooked bacon. If bacon could be made into jerky, there you have it. Almost too hard to bite let alone chew.
The outside of this place definitely represents the food inside this place. Lack luster. This place serves over priced, poorly cooked, bland food. Nothing 5 stars about it. Not even 3. Save yourselves the misery and eat...
Read moreDowngrading a five star to two star. I had originally been in for lunch and had a cheese steak which was surprisingly good. I've downgraded this to two stars because I have had breakfast here twice and both experiences were one star. I like to give local places a couple of times as one time can be a bad day. Both breakfast experiences were similar. The service was basically non existent. Once I saw the server I had to flag her for coffee refills and I had waited for quite some time before flagging her down. Again, being patient but realizing it would probably not happen if I didn't ask. The place was not busy. It was myself and my daughter and three other couples. I had the chicken fried steak breakfast both times. This last time, as before, the chicken fried steak was soggy and basically fell apart. There was no crispness to it at all. It seemed to be microwaved. The biscuit was without a doubt microwaved to the point that it was like a piece of soft rubber. Hash browns were lukewarm and possibly microwaved as well. They were brown but not necessarily fried or crispy at all. This was a $16 breakfast and the coffee was $3. My daughter's breakfast was no better. I don't mind paying for decent food but I feel there was very little effort or pride in preparing this food at all. I don't expect high end, super amazing food from here but this didn't come close to even half decent diner food. Sorry for the downgrade but I am just being honest. Maybe lunch is a better time to go...
Read moreFuture site of a Gordon Ramsay intervention. Wow. Food as good as a Denny's. Nice logo on coffee mugs. Friendly staff. Our experience today around 1:30 p.m.: Incredibly long wait time for food prep; only five couples, including my table, in the dining area; food was so slow in coming that people at the next table finally gave up and asked for a refund without getting their food (due to slow service, they'd finally asked for their sit-down order 'to-go' and pre-paid, but that didn't speed things up; they said they were on their lunch break from work and simply couldn't wait any longer & gave up). Our order, as well, took A Long Time. Note to management: Don't have your staff munching on fries behind the counter and tell customer that their fries are not done yet. With only half a dozen lunch items on menu, don't run out of Swiss cheese (for Philly sandwich) on day one. If you run out of ingredients, have one of the 3 counter staff run to Costco. My companion (who works in a restaurant) noted the Converse sneakers (slippery soled shoes) worn by a staffer and said those would not be allowed in a professional restaurant. Don't have your staff texting on their cell while customers have no food for 45 minutes. Honestly, it was not even busy. (My companion also noted, not that many orders-for-the-day were on the prong.) We gave it a try, wanted to support a new business. Suggest subtracting a counter-person and...
