I just had the most wonderful dining experience at Izakaya Bay City! I rarely write reviews, but this place was so good that I had to write a long one. As a celiac, it is very hard to find good sushi that is also safe and gluten free. Izakaya had sushi, entrées, and a lovely dessert that were safe for me! I recommend sitting at the sushi bar where you can view the sushi prep area in full. The chef was present and able to answer all of my questions. He recommended safe options and even made modifications to some items I wanted to try to ensure they were safe for me. The restaurant had tamari for me to use alongside my rolls, but the cuts of fish were so tender and flavorful that it wasn’t really needed. Each dish was meticulously crafted, showcasing the chef's exceptional skill and creativity. The yellowtail sashimi was an incredible cut of fish, as evidenced by its melt-in-the-mouth texture. The seared scallops with avocado rice and lemon beurre blanc were nothing short of sublime—easily the best scallop dish I have ever experienced at a restaurant. The scallops were perfectly seared, boasting a rich, caramelized exterior while remaining tender and succulent inside. The accompanying avocado rice provided a delightful lemony creaminess that complemented the dish beautifully. The seared tuna was equally impressive, offering a perfect balance of seasoning and texture. For dessert, the orange crème brûlée was a standout, featuring a luscious, silky custard with a subtle citrus twist that was both refreshing and indulgent. The service was prompt and attentive, enhancing our dining experience without being intrusive. The izakaya-style ambiance added to the charm, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that made the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, Izakaya Bay City exceeded my expectations with its flawless execution, exceptional flavors, and thoughtful approach to dietary needs. It’s a true gem that I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at an Izakaya Japanese restaurant, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food was simply outstanding, with each dish prepared to perfection. The attention to detail in presentation was evident, and the flavors were a delightful blend of traditional Japanese cuisine with a modern twist. The sushi roll, with its fresh ingredients and perfect balance of textures, was a highlight of the meal. The other dish, which appeared to be a beautifully cooked meat entrée accompanied by fresh vegetables, was equally impressive. The quality of the ingredients was top-notch, and the taste was nothing short of divine. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our visit. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensured that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend this Izakaya to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable Japanese dining experience. Whether you're a sushi lover or looking to try something new, this place is sure to impress with its exceptional food and top-tier service.

Wow what a huge disappointment. From service to the food everything was just terrible. Definitely not a chef inspired menu. Starting with the service which was extremely slow that took forever to get our drinks and order. We got to the restaurant at 6:00pm food didn’t come till 7:20pm. All we ordered was sushi a chicken fried rice and the pork belly ramen. Once we finally got our food the fried rice had no chicken that we noticed after the first bite but I’m glad they took it back because the flavor was non existent. The rice tasted like a burnt pan! The ramen was so bland it tasted like a ramen noodle packet no rich flavors of ramen at all, the pork belly was raw and not cooked. The prices are also ridiculous for what they are claiming to be fine dining. The restaurant was not busy at all so there should have been no issue with how slow the service was! We sat by the kitchen and noticed the cook looked and talked like he could care less which probably explains why nothing was cooked right! All in all won’t return!

Met my girlfriends there for our monthly night out, 1st week in October. We were really looking forward to dinner here, especially since there were so many 5star and one of my party knows the owner from HS. We made it for the $5 add on for the sushi roll or dumpling, which were very good. I had spicy tuna, the other girls the cali. When it came time for dinners, one got the ramen. She said the broth was very good but the pork belly had no crisp at all before going into the broth. I opted for the crispy beef and green beans. I've had similar dishes before but I was confused when I got most of a bowl of rice, some very tough to eat beef with a sticky sauce and green bean fries with no sauce. Not at all what I was picturing, considering I can get green bean fries at most pubs, I was actually looking forward to real beans. The last in our party got the ribs. she said the flavor was very good, but felt that the portion was quite small since the ribs were not very meaty and the sprinkle of slaw on the bottom of the plate wasn't much of an add. I'll try it again, give them some more time to settle in, maybe a different menu item this...
