This place was disgusting! The front desk clerk was rude, and extremely rude to someone who was a crutches. They do not have enough parking spaces for the amount of rooms, this causes for over flow parking far away from the hotel. There are doors one the side of the hotel, which it would make it easier for some one who is disabled and had to park in the over flow handicap parking, or injured. Most hotels have these doors locked, but able to be unlocked with your door keys.. not this place. You have to drag your luggage, and whatever you wanted around the building and all of the way up to the front entrance. Once in the building there are signs claiming they adhere to Covid Mandates and Safety including Michigan’s Mask mandate (MDHHS mandates masks under the MCL 333.2253.. in case the front desk girl wants to continue the disagreement about Michigan’s mandate.) Next to no one was wearing mask, in the lobby and into the elevators. The bartender even had her nose out of mask exposing unmasked customers in the crowded bar. This was the first trip my spouse and I have made out since March. We stay with Hilton’s brands for how clean they try to be.. but not this one. I call down to the girl about my worries.. I was immediately put on hold for a few minutes and then immediately tried to tell me that Michigan lifted the Mask Mandate.. when I told her no it didn’t! That it was still in place and what about the signs? She then told me that her managers and corporate told her that masks were not mandated. The signs all over the lobby and hotel say your suppose to, so that makes you wonder if house keeping is not wearing masks also?? The girl at the front desk certainly doesn’t seem to understand that Covid is passed through the air!! She does understand enough though if a positive person is in there and infects the other guest they will inform us.. or they claim?? I was told to just deal with the manager on Monday about my concerns that I’m having. I have also found dust on high touch areas.. you can tell things are not wiped down well. This place was extremely disappointing. I was hoping to surprise my wife for her birthday. This was disappointing for both of us.
Continuing into the night and into the morning. Bathroom shower clearly hasn’t been cleaned nor wiped down in a minute with all the little hairs that were on the shower walls. Even small curly ones.... Nothing looked like it really has been wiped down nor really sanitized in between guests staying in the rooms. This hotels claiming it adheres to Hilton’s standards is extremely fallen short. I have stayed in Super 8’s that were far nicer than this facility. I am so disappointed that this was the experience I had with a DoubleTree and take a leap of faith that it would be safe to stay during these times. I am extremely unhappy that the 2nd shift blonde Bob cut Front Desk worker tried to lie to me about Michigan and are mask mandates. Then challenged about her lie as she lies some more saying the managers and Hilton Corporation don’t find wearing masks important. Hilton’s Corporate doesn’t feel that way, found that out after a long phone call with them to follow up...
Read moreRecently I attended a funeral luncheon thrown at this establishment. What I experienced was utter disrespect to the family attending, and to the women whose husband had passed away. From what I’ve witnessed and been told the lies, misinformation, and disrespect started from the moment the event was planned. The relative who paid for the event was told that there was going to be an open bar for guests including liquor, beer, and wine , only beer and wine were able to be sold. She was not told the buffet would be taken down after only a hour. Many guests, most importantly the widow herself, did not get to eat. The servers working the luncheon hovered over every guest, and as soon as an individual set down their silverware to talk to a relative, the dish and utensils were quickly grabbed with food the guest was still eating on it. I personally had asked the staff 3 times to back off and give the family space, they did not listen. When I personally sat down my plate and silverware to speak with the widow and it was taken I was forced to raise my voice and ask and question why they ignore the requests of the family. In response, both the grieving family and I were met with utter disrespect by some employees working the function. To wrap up this pleasant experience, I personally walked with the widow to the front desk to make sure the bill was taken care of rightfully. I asked the lady at the front desk who was collecting the bill TWO TIMES if the tip was included in the charge. She responded no both times and the widow payed with her card again to pay for the tip. When she got home and found out the tip was actually included in the first charge, and an additional 20% tip was added with the second (making the tip 42%). That sent me over the edge. When the family called to cancel the tip, the women on the phone acted oblivious and said the first tip was a “set up fee”. The tent has been there set up for some time even before the party was booked. She still has not received a refund for the additional tip, and a grieving family who was just trying to enjoy the memories of their loved one was robbed of the joy of that experience by this horrible management, and...
Read moreWe Had a very nice room stay on Friday night .. Every bit of The staff is truly amazing, the hotel is beautiful, the holiday drinks fantastic , but.. The dinner was a definite not so great experience .. $30 for a salmon that was okay and possibly from frozen as well, the honey sauce was nice, but the potatoes were rock hard and smothered in nasty over cooked red peppers and artichoke hearts (they were good), which I hoped I had left off the peppers entirely but I didn't read that on the menu , my mistake... My husband had a thin tough $30 ribeye with the same rock hard potatoes and under cooked zucchini.. We definitely won't be having dinner there again . The Male bartender has a bit of a nasty, HE'S irritated attitude that's not becoming, but the female was very helpful and kind.
The female bartender offered to fix my plate with the red peppers , but at that point it was already mixed.all over the food and I didn't want to upset the kitchen staff with my mistake of not reading the menu, so I piled the peppers high on a side plate and my husband didn't even want them. I had left overs and warmed it the next day.. I had to cook the potatoes another 8 mins in the microwave just to get them soft enough to eat . We had lunch the next day and the brisket tacos were really great with and very nice yum yum sauce, good coffee too.. Again FANTASTIC STAFF!
We were there for an in house event and had the pleasure of eating the chicken wings .. Those are out of this world amazing ! The crispy coating, the sauces wooow unforgettable .. Definitely can't say the same about that, way over priced dinner tho....
I do hope you can get that together , because what's the point of having a beautiful atmosphere with a horrible dinning experience ..?
Plus it's a very dated menu .. Time to update from the 90s retirement home menu.. All that it was missing was the jello salad or maybe it was there, but you'd have to pay extra for it..
Great place for functions and beautiful location by...
