We are new to the area and have wanted to try Rathskeller for a while now - SO GLAD we did! First, we were greeted at the door by a small boy (Jasper?) who was more polite than most adults I know. He opened the doors for us and welcomed us to Rathskeller's. We were then greeted by a server who was on her second day of work - Lindsey was FANTASTIC! Anything she wasn't sure of she confirmed with Amanda (more on her further down) and worked/charmed her heart out for each customer! Amanda is obviously the heartbeat of Rathskeller. She did it all and with a sense of humor and a beautiful smile. Amanda worked the bar, did quality control on the kitchen, helped Lindsey with any questions and kept a keen eye on Jasper. No wonder she is so tiny....she never stopped! The food (a burger for Spencer and Reuben for me with cheesy bacon covered fries to share - YUM!!) was TERRIFIC! Portions were large (I took half of mine home) and everything was beautifully prepared and delicious. I have no idea what Rathskeller was like when it was owned by the previous owners, but whoever owns it now needs to thank their lucky stars they have Amanda, Lindsey, Jasper and the rest of the crew. If you haven't been and don't mind a small, older bar with high top tables (a few low ones also) TV's, a wait when it is busy, affordable prices, damn good food and (even better) hard working employees that go the extra mile then this place is for YOU! Also, make sure you 'tip' Jasper - that kid hustles for the customers more than regular workers at...
Read morei feel like one star is giving this place a lot of credit. i overheard my bartender Jamie speaking with the bartender who was coming in for an evening shift named Amanda about how much i was leaving for a tip each time i purchased a drink. i overheard them saying i was a “cheap asshole” and that i couldn’t even afford to feed my children, let alone afford a decent amount of drinks/food. I can NOT believe the things i had heard about me, and i asked Jamie to speak to the manager before she left, and that’s when Amanda came up to me with a terrible attitude and i could not believe what i was seeing! The manager was the one laughing about me and calling me these terrible things. i am extremely upset with the disrespect these two “Women” gave me, and the way they treated me was ridiculous. I hope the owner sees this and responds to this and does something about these two because that is THE MOST unprofessional service i’ve ever received at any bar i’ve been...
Read moreI'll start with the waitress forgetting my drink order. Then when we ordered food, I informed the waitress I have a mushroom allergy. So the cook would need to clean the grill and use clean tools, because they have a lot of mushroom items on the menu. So then the cook comes out with an attitude.. which I explained, it's not hard to clean a spot on the grill and use clean tools. Cross contamination could cause anaphylaxis, and I appreciated the trouble. It took an hour to get our food, and my food came out wrong. So I sent it back. When it came back out, my turkey burger was overcooked and very dry. My onion rings were burnt on the outside with raw onions on the inside. Overall it wasn't worth the money I paid. I...
