Casey's Corner specializes in hot dogs and is based on Thayer's poem "Casey at the Bat", therefore, has a late 1800's/turn of the century baseball vibe (in keeping with Main Street). It's across from the ice cream parlor and if you're walking through the shops on the left, towards the castle, it let's out at this quick service restaurant.
I have walked by hundreds of times and although it always smelled appetizing, I've never gotten a hot dog there! Until today...
I ordered a chipotle bbq all-beef hot dog (regular not foot long). It is topped with pulled pork and coleslaw. It's also served with fries or a mandarin orange.
I like hot dogs, especially grilled and griddled ones but it's one of those things where I always feel like I can make it better at home and so I never get one when I'm out. But today I decided to try one since people in other forums seem to really like them.
It was meh. Too much slaw which made it impossible to eat. Had to dump out half of it onto my plate. The bbq pulled pork was too sweet and had an underlying gamey flavor. And when I had the part of the hot dog that didnt have anything on it, it was extremely salty.
Other factors that made it an unpleasant experience was 1. there was a wait. I broke my rule of "always order on the app" because it didn't seem like a very long line (it was around 1:00 pm). Always order on the app! 2. It was impossible to find seating indoors and outdoors so I had to trek over to the front of the Plaza Restaurant and sit at their outdoor seating. 3. Napkins and things are further inside and there were none by the doors so I never got any and with bbq sauce smothering the hot dog you really need napkins. 4. Everyone in the reviews say it's "cheap" but it's not cheap at all! The bbq hotdog alone was $13.29 and they only offered a 30oz drink! for 4.99. I ended up paying $19+ for a hot dog, a small serving of fries, and a drink which I couldn't finish but they feel it's justified to charge you so much but they don't offer a smaller size?
I really hate how Disney nickel and dimes you with everything! Like how they only have cheeseburgers on the menu but if you ask for no cheese, it's not any cheaper. Whatever. 😂
So, I won't be going back. If you want cheaper quick service, go to the other places and order the kids meal.
Other options were chili cheese, Chicago style (which has relish, tomatoes, onions and mustard), plain hot dog, corn dog nuggets, and plant-based Chicago style.
Alas, there is no joy in Mudville - mighty Casey...
Read moreWe stopped at Casey’s Corner last night after a night of rides and fun. Since it was late, a friend and I shared a chili dog and fries. Unfortunately our chili dog slid right off the tray! A young lady saw the tragedy and immediately went to get us another. I tried to find her to thank her. I don’t know her name; I am grateful. If that was the end of the story, I would leave a 5 star review.
Unfortunately, a minor in our group had an injury that resulted in the need for first aid. One person in our party had to leave while we tried to pack up her uneaten fries and her drink. I explained to a young man who was refilling the condiments, napkins, straws, etc. that someone in our party had a medical emergency and my friend wasn’t able to eat so she could attend to the injured child. I asked him if he could please get us a box for her food. He kindly told me no and said I could go back to the register for a box. I noted under my breath this wasn’t very helpful, but I went to pick up the box and get her a straw for her drink. The young man, Alex, followed me and asked me loudly what I’d said. I told him what I’d said but tried to get our things together quickly so we could leave. He continued to follow me as I tried to put her fries in the box and get her napkins and a straw. He announced loudly that he liked my shirt. He yelled something else as we were heading for the door. My friend noted he was being very passive aggressive. I agreed.
I understand that it was late and he may have been tired. I understand that everyone has a different personality. I understand that there may have been a procedure for getting a container for a customer. I don’t understand why he continued to follow us and talk “nicely” but loudly as we were trying to respond to an unknown medical situation. Maybe he was trying to rectify the initial issue. However, he didn’t and his response made us both...
Read moreI dunno – meh. I did as much research as I could possibly do and my family had zero interest in having any dining sit-down while at MK. The darn casey’s corner corn dog nuggets and spring rolls (Adventureland Spring Roll Cart) just kept being recommended relentlessly. This location gets pretty busy non-stop but that’s to be expected at MK right? The wait was longer than anticipated but no harm done. My family was starving for a snack at this point so we ordered 2 orders of these corn dog nuggets. On that note it would be a good idea if they offered this in a snack size or family/shareable size. You get approximately 8 per order and it does come with fries. After previous fried foods at the park I honestly was just craving some coleslaw or even a pasta salad. However I respect the theme here and I knew what I was walking into. These corn dog nuggets were just meh….nothing outstanding….nothing you wouldn’t get from your local grocery store frozen isle. I obviously won’t knock the entire menu here – there are other options but it’s basically all hot dog related. I think what would’ve elevated things is unique sauces for dipping or even one burger option. I’d say try it but as mentioned I can’t comprehend why I read and watched referrals for the these corn dog nuggets like they were sent from heaven. Again, it’s just meh. Fabulous staff I want to add but tables are pretty well...
