If you've taken a stroll in Epcot's France Pavilion, chances are you've strolled past this cute little gelato spot! The line is almost always out the door, so it's really very difficult to miss. Prices begin at $3.99 for a small gelato but the best part is that they've also got macaroons filled with gelato in them! They usually have pumpkin spice or mint chocolate depending on the season. For my first time here, I decided to get a regular chocolate gelato on a cone. I have to be honest, I hated it . Granted, this was my first time having gelato, period. I wasn't sure what to expect so I think I just don't like gelato in general. It tasted like dark chocolate despite being labeled as milk chocolate. I, however, do not hold it against the ice cream parlor. The staff was very friendly, very helpful and kept the line moving at a fast pace. I wish they gave free samples of the gelato so I would've avoided getting something I didn't like. That's the only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars. My mom loved the gelato (she loves dark chocolate) and she would come back. The other hiccup here is the limited amount of seating, but luckily it's right next to a quick service that has plenty of seating a...
Read moreI was very excited about France Pavilion for all kinds of desserts… They offer handcrafted frozen treats, and the amount of flavors of ice cream and sorbet they offer was great!
We wanted Croque Glacé, and we chose Yogurt & Blueberries as the "filling." It is made with one scoop of ice cream of your choice, and a choice of a sauce in a Homemade Brioche. A freshly baked brioche cut in half, an ice cream scoop on top, and then placed on this special press.
We went with classic Chocolate sauce to be drizzled onto our little baby. The top half of brioche was placed, then pressed warm for a few minutes.
It was VERY warm on the outside, but when you bite into it, you are met with cold, smooth, silky goodness in the middle. Interesting combination, but in a good way. It is like having a warm pie with a scoop of ice cream…yum! The brioche was soft, airy, light, and the scoop is a pretty big scoop too! Very tasty and delightful! So glad I got...
Read moreThis was a good combination of a French bakery and ice cream shop. They make quite a few of their own flavors, like coffee, mango sorbet and many others. This macaron ice cream sandwich seemed like a safe bet, being a raspberry macaron with a filling of both vanilla and mixed berry sorbet.
Of course, the area is completely crowded so we took our snacks to go and find a safe spot to sit and eat them. Fortunately, it comes with a paper wrapping to keep the drips to a minimum, but the hike to an open bench melted it a bit.
It was a bit smaller than many ice cream sandwiches, but it also packed in a lot more flavor and sugar, so it balanced out. This was a good snack at a medium price and good satisfaction level. I believe next time, I will venture away from the familiar and try something just a bit different, though. Like maybe the Cinnamon with Caramelized Apple and Crumble Crunch Ice...
