Embarrassing and a waste of opportunity. I am a Disney Fan and typically give lots of benefit-of-the-doubt, as well as leeway for nostalgia (think It's a Small World), but this ride is just weird and lame. It does nothing to stimulate imagination. The sections that talk about the senses could TOTALLY be updated and given some Disney WOW factor. The Figment Character is neither cute nor funny, (neither is the professor). Having to depend on everyone remembering how Figment used to be is quite risky and frankly kind of just lazy. I think Figment was not all that popular even back when, but kind of gained a cult following, as people 'wanted' to like it. But time to let go. I think there is a huge opportunity here with either updating the ride/story with Figment yet again, OR using the track and doing an overall re-theme (like an "Elements" ride taking you through various emotions (with some serious wow though)). I came away from "The Land" ride more riveted than from Figment. And that's saying...
Read moreJust a classic. People are expecting way too much from this “ride,” if you are going to Epcot in search of just rides I think you will be disappointed. This ride is meant to express the different modes of the imagination that go into creating the basis of all Disney magic, which is what Epcot as a whole seems to embrace. To me this is as much of a ride as Living with the Land is a ride. Epcot embraces the different races/cultures/imaginations that make up the different parts of the world which in turn creates its own version of magic. Epcot is my favorite park because of all the learning opportunities that present themselves once you get inside. Now I wouldn’t mind if they reinvented some of this particular “ride” to give it a even more modern and technologically driven approach, to show you a more modern idea of how the are implementing imagination throughly technology but regardless I think people need to realize the idea behind Epcot. The whole Epcot experience is awesome for...
Read moreHaving experienced the original version of this ride, this one doesn't even come close. Now, a caveat; I was young, 4, 5, and 6 when I rode it multiple years in a row. Being a little kid, you remember things differently. Luckily some people recorded the attraction, and while the video quality isn't great (it is what it is, best it could be with the technology at the time), the ride in the videos does mostly match up with my memories from riding it.
I believe the changes between the original ride, and what it currently is now, has been well documented on the internet, so you really don't need my take on it. I'm just disappointed in the current version and I hope Disney will update again soon and change it to something more closely resembling the original, even if they use new visual tricks, etc. It does not need to be cookie cutter copy of what I grew up with. I do hope they bring back the Dreamfinder and this cool...
