Come here once a year with hubby to celebrate life. We came back this year on a Friday night ( 2 days ago ).
We got there an hour earlier than our reservation time and be seated within 5 minutes. Everything looked the same as usual, romantic atmosphere, lovely deco, friendly Cast Members.
As a high-end restaurant, everything went slow to make sure you enjoyed every bit of it. We ordered
A bottle of Roederer Estate Brut to start, dry with smoky flavour, round body and layer texture. If you don't like sweet, this's for you.
Bread basket with Sour Dough and Onion Pull Apart, served with Roasted Garlic and Salted Butter. OMG, everything about this was PERFECT. Sour Dough was a bit boring but I love sour dough. Onion Pull Apart was a texture of puff pastry, croissant-like. Full of surprises and with strong butter flavor. Salted butter was good, but you have to try the Roasted Garlic, it's the smartest invention for bread spread. WELL DONE.
For Appetizers: I got Lobster Bisque and my husband ordered Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. Lobster Bisque was perfectly made, strong lobster taste with herbs smoky flavor, right consistency. Love it.
Homemade Cocktail sauce wasn't too sweet and well-balanced. Huge size of shrimps and fresh. A good Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail dish indeed.
For Entrees: I don't really eat meat but have to try here. I went with 14-oz Roast Prime Rib, Middle and my husband got 8-oz Black Angus Filet Mignon, Middle rare to Middle.
The Filet was moist and tender, melted in your mouth, well-seasoned, such a great dish, cooked perfectly to what we asked for. Great job.
Roast Prime Rib was a bit too fat for me, the side was grilled perfectly but over-seasoning, too salty. The middle of the meat was in perfect consistency. With Sweet Potato Casserole, grilled with marshmallow on top. Great combination with Prime Rib.
For Sides, we ordered Braised Mushrooms. Perfectly made, hands down.
For Desserts, We wanted to go for Creme Brûlée, but we decided to take away, so we ordered White Chocolate Cheesecake and The Admirals Cake.
White Chocolate Cheesecake didn't wow us, but I am glad I got Admirals Cake. 6 layers of different types cakes, ( Decadent Layered Cake of Valrhona Chocolate Brownie, Caramel Crunch, Dark Chocolate Ganache, Chocolate Sponge Cake, Banana Foster Jam, Caramel Ganache ), well combinations and great flavours accompanied each other. Caramel toned down the bitterness of dark chocolate, banana foster jam lighted up the whole cake. It's a big cake, remember to share with someone.
Bev served us perfectly, she's patient and friendly, even gave us a lot of boxes to bring foods away before we asked for.
Everything worths a 5 Star here except the price, also it's getting noisier with all the kids screaming around. I don't mind kids, but hope the parents can control them in a high-end restaurant like Yachtsman. No one wants to be around with screaming kids during your...
Read moreWent here after my brother and SIL ate here and said the food was great. We had a reservation for 6:30 for myself and my husband. It was our first dinner out in 11 months since our youngest was born. We were seated in the back area of the restaurant, the section was relatively full. Our waiter Ken was attentive and brought us bread and drinks. We split a Cesar salad which was above average. In the restaurant there were 3 or 4 families with children who were screaming bloody murder for our entire dinner. I have 3 children, I get it sometimes kids make noise, sometimes kids cry, sometimes kids have just had it. Well this was worse than any of that and it was multiple families who just didn’t care how their kids acted. For a restaurant where the least expensive entree is $58 and the website says there is a dress code you do expect a nice atmosphere. When our meals finally arrived, there was a very long gap between our salad and the meals. The manager who brought them asked if everything was ok. My husband said, well it took a very long time to get our food. Then I chimed in and said listen it’s the first time we have been out for dinner alone in 11 months and the children screaming at the top of their lungs from multiple parities is just not ok. The manager said the entrees would be on him. We both ordered prime rib and barely ate it, it was not tasty and was tough. Not sure how you mess up prime rib.
To put everything into context. The following evening we went to Storybook dining at artist point. The dining room was filled with children including my own. Not one time did I hear children screaming the way there were at the Steakhouse! I do not blame the children, I blame the parents. I would never allow my children to scream that way. I would remove them from the dining room.
This was the worst dining experience I have had in Disney property! Not only was the food bad. The atmosphere...
Read moreI wanted to like this more than I did since it’s at Yachtclub which is our favorite resort (other than club level at destino!). We had never been & I’m not sure I would go again. There were not many choices for appetizers and the bisque they were unwilling to split. This led us to the carpaccio which I was hesitant about as we were doing beef for dinner. It was my favorite thing we ate there. It had nice marbling and acidic dressing. Big pieces of artichoke, capers, aioli, and radish. We both enjoyed it. Bread is pretty standard but the wow factor is the whole roasted clove of garlic they give you to accompany it. You can’t go wrong with that. For dinner my husband had the filet & I had the sirloin. He loved his filet & was very happy with it. I thought the sirloin was okay. It didn’t have the flavor of a prime cut. It wasn’t super thick & didn’t have a heavy sear. It was just okay. For sides we got the Brussels sprouts which the server raved about and the Mac & cheese. The Mac & cheese had great flavor and we both liked it. The Brussels sprouts were deep fried leaves. They were burnt & crispy like potato chips. There was no vegetable substance. I really did not like them. The waiter apologized & brought us mushrooms which was really nice of him. They were just plain roasted but I was happy they were an actual plate of veg! Different types also. We didn’t opt for dessert but they brought a little macaroon, jelly candy, and chocolate for my husbands birthday. Our server was really nice & talkative so the service wasn’t a miss. For me it was the food & the decor. They desperately need a facelift & some updating to the menu. As the fine dining establishment at yacht & beach club it should have a more upscale feel & be more of a destination. For those reasons I would probably skip it on future visits. The bar next door attached utilizes the same kitchen but closes at 9pm? Seems a...
