Judicke's Bakery — Restaurant in Bayonne

I visited this bakery on March 18, 2022 to grab some afternoon sweets with the family. A long time Jersey City resident, I've known about Judickies for years. I purchased quite a few confections, including, cookies, cake pops, cupcakes and a slice of carrot cake. With the exception of the cake pops, I thought the rest of the items I purchased were awful. I bought a coconut cookie and a peanut butter cookie and the coconut cookie immediately broke apart upon biting into it. In addition, it tasted nothing like coconut and had a gooey center (which I'm guessing was supposed to be the coconut portion of the cookie) that was totally inedible. The peanut butter cookie was bland and tasted nothing like peanut butter. Both cookies were tossed in the trash after just one bite!

I opted to eat the slice of carrot cake the next day and refrigerated it. Hoping that the cake would make up for the awful cookies, I couldn't of been more disappointed. One bite of the carrot cake and that too was tossed in the trash! I've been to Judickies once before and thought they were an average bakery, at best. Hoping that their items would taste better a few years later, I gave them a second chance. I wasted $16.00 on cookies and cakes that were, in a word, nasty! If it wasn't for the fact that I lived out of town, I would've went back to the store for a full refund.

As a business owner, I pride myself on the many positive reviews we receive from customers internationally. I take pride in my products and my customers acknowledge that. I hate to leave bad reviews, especially for fellow business owners, but I hate wasting my hard earned money even more. In closing, I won't be purchasing anything else from this bakery in the future. I'll take a trip to Crumbl Cookies for treats that...

Not the same bakery I grew up with. Cakes that don't sell are still out on the shelves; I can't tell you how many times I've gone back thinking maybe it was just a bad day only to come home with a stale product...doing the same thing time & again expecting a different result is the definition of insanity; right? Well; I give up. I'm as sane as they come. They are just sloppy. They should just shut the bakery down and become a plain donut shop. And NOT sell the Boston creams...that filling is sour. Mr. Judicke would have shut the place down & not sold it if he knew what it would have turned into. He'd be so ashamed of what it became. If I were his family, I would withdraw the permission of their use of the family name attached to that place. That name is the ONLY thing giving them credibility at this point. You want a fresh cake go down to Paulenta Bakery. (Although I've heard the customer service THERE leaves a bit to be desired...but that's another review) Do yourself a favor, bake your own cakes. Still a good place to get sprinkle d donuts, albeit they have shrunk a bit. Small crumb buns are good and with the addition of fruit fillings even better. Can't go wrong with a crumb cake or horseshoe ring.
