Legendary Guest, Legendary Quality — Why LongHorn Beaufort Is My #1 Go-To
As a world-traveling foodie, restaurant developer, and Team USA National Judo fighter, I eat out over 300 days a year across the globe. From Michelin-star kitchens in Europe to hidden gems in Southeast Asia — I’ve seen it all. But when I’m home in Beaufort, SC, there’s only one place that consistently delivers both elite-level quality and southern hospitality: LongHorn Steakhouse.
Recently, the team awarded me their 2025 Legendary Guest Award — a recognition given to just one guest per year. The best part? They had no idea I’m a top 10% Google restaurant reviewer. That’s how genuine the service is here — it’s built on relationships, not recognition.
⸻
The Food: Clean, Consistent, Crave-Worthy
As an athlete ranked #1 in the USA in my weight class (81kg, M4 division), my diet is everything — and LongHorn delivers clean fuel that never misses. My go-to plate? Grilled salmon over rice pilaf with steamed broccoli.
The salmon arrives perfectly seared with crisp golden edges and a juicy, tender center. The rice is light, fluffy, and seasoned with a subtle herb blend, not greasy or over-salted like many chains. And the broccoli is bright green, al dente, and fresh, never overcooked or mushy.
It’s a dish I’ve had hundreds of times, and yet — it’s executed with precision every single visit. For a national brand, that level of consistency is extremely rare.
⸻
Drinks at the Bar: Your Insider’s Secret
We always sit at the bar — it’s the move. The atmosphere is warm, energetic, and efficient. My wife sips on a Tito’s and cranberry, while I wind down with a perfectly chilled espresso martini that rivals cocktails I’ve had in luxury lounges across Europe.
If you want the best experience? Skip the wait and grab a bar seat. Ask for Casey, one of the most skilled and personable bartenders in the region. He knows how to time a pour, read a room, and deliver with class.
⸻
The Team: Professional, Personal, Phenomenal
This restaurant is exceptionally well-run, and that credit goes to the leadership: • Shannon, the restaurant manager — my personal favorite. She’s calm under pressure, keeps the team sharp, and always brings a positive energy to the floor. • Tony McBride, the General Manager — a true pro. When he presented me with the Legendary Guest plaque, the pride he had in his team was real. • And Casey at the bar — fast, friendly, focused, and always consistent.
This isn’t just a staff — it’s a well-oiled hospitality machine that makes you feel like a VIP whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth.
⸻
The X-Factor: That One-of-a-Kind Moment
Receiving the 2025 Legendary Guest Award was a moment I’ll never forget. It’s not something you can ask for. It’s something you earn, over time, by showing up and appreciating what this place does better than most: Serve great food, consistently, with class.
There’s even a bit of lore behind the award — only one is given per year. Some say it goes to the person who never needs a menu. Others say it’s for the guest who knows their order before they sit down. Either way… I’ve been sworn to secrecy.
⸻
Final Verdict:
Whether you’re a local, a traveler, or a fellow foodie, LongHorn Steakhouse Beaufort is one of the best-run restaurants in the Southeast. From the perfectly grilled salmon to the handcrafted cocktails and next-level staff, this place checks every box.
Sit at the bar. Ask for Casey. Tell Shannon and Tony that Billy sent you. You won’t regret it.

Read moreMy mother and I went to lunch on 1/7/23.. We sat in a booth. Had maybe a 10 minute wait. Not bad at all. Our server was Milly. She came over and asked what we would like to drink. Then, my mom ordered an appetizer. Milly read back our drinks and the appetizer. She then walked away and came right back without the drinks and asked "you wanted the chicken as an appetizer right?" We both said yes. She smiled and walked away again. Promptly coming back with our drinks and bread. She then took our order and said "the appetizer should be out anytime now." After 35 minutes my mom went up to Milly while she was at a computer and asked when tge appetizer was coming out. Milly looked at my mom and said we didn't order an appetizer. Dumbfounded... my mom came back to the table and told me what transpired. I immediately said, "no way! She read back the order AND came back and asked if we wanted it as an appetizer!" My mom then asked for a manager. Shannon came out and was absolutely wonderful. We also said we no longer wanted Milly as our server. Shannon said she understood. Chandaa & Tyler came over and introduced themselves. Then, immediately following that, Shannon herself brought our appetizer out. And it was delicious. She also said we would not be charged for the appetizer itself because of the confusion. Awesome. Chandaa & Tyler were absolutely amazing. We also ordered the same appetizer (times 2!) And the largest sauce they could give us to go. Tyler was amazing. He brought out the Togo app and wrapped up the remaining app we had on the table as well. Not only that... Chandaa brought over Togo boxes for our lunch and made sure nothing would spill on the way home. They were both wonderful. Shannon, Chandaa & Tyler made the remaining stay at lunch wonderful. Chandaa even took off more from the bill. Which wasn't needed but very much appreciated! When we return, I will ask for Chandaa or Tyler. You guys have such amazing people skills. And thank you again Shannon. You 3 made lunch for my mom and I...
Read moreThe last time I rated Longhorn, I gave them 5 stars for everything, especially their service. My how the mighty have fallen.
The hostess didn't bother to ask if we preferred booth or table. I was freezing and when our server finally showed up, the hostess cam out to clean a table that had been empty for the q2 minutes we had been waiting. In that time. Only one other table was set, so they weren't busy, just lazy.
As already mentioned, our server took 12 minutes to show up. He apologized, stating he'd been triple sat. That means, while he was still getting the drink orders for the first table, two more of his tables were seated. He wasn't. The other table were nearly finished with their meals.
He was friendly, which is good.
In an hour and a quarter, he checked on us a total of 3 times. Very bad. Our steaks arrived Ed quickly and were great. My son's hamburger was delivered, but no ketchup was brought or delivered for his fries. After trying to wave several servers down, we finally got one ten minutes later. Although she promised to bring us ketchup, she never did.after another ten minutes, so a full 20 minutes after our meals arrived, our server checked on us. We told him Bout the ketchup. It only took him another five minutes to walk to the nearby server station to bring the ketchup. By then, we were all finished. It was 15 minutes before he came back out, so we could request our check. He was quite prompt to ring up our payment. Had he been a tenth as prompt for anything else, we would have been happy.
To summarize, lazy, poorly trained hostess staff, very, very slow service and lying as well by our server. Zero teamwork between nearby servers. Top end restaurants always train servers to be team players. No longer true at Longhorn. The entire wait staff needs a lot of training in the basics. The issue wasn't sidework, they spent most of their time on the floor in a group, talking to each other. Longhorn used to have a 5 star serve staff. This is...
