McDonald's — Restaurant in Beaufort

I read several reviews before writing mine because I wanted to know if my experience was a one-off. Was it me? Was this my fault? Was I mistaken or trippin? I tried hard to remember if I have ever been disrespected to this extent at a drive through before.

It was about 6pm. There was no one in front of me. Drive through was clear. From the very outset, the manager was very disrespectful. I was taken back because I know that I hadn't given him a reason. Checked him to say what's up with all the disrespect? He didn't like it and denied me service.

When I went to the new Cook-Out restaurant next door instead, I felt confident that I needed to write something to/about the restaurant to ensure it doesn't happen to another customer again. As I waited for my Cook-Out order I walked next door to the McDonald's and to my surprise there were no customers inside either. They were not busy at all. The person with the headset had on a different shirt (royal blue) which is how I knew he was a manager. I wanted to be accurate and specific about who it was that I had engaged with. I asked his name. He didn't want to tell me his name but finally said it was Treyvon Holmes. He clearly didn't care that I had a bad experience.

For clarity, the issue was that he took umbrage with me referring to the discount menu as the dollar menu. How wanted to argue me down that nothing on there costs a dollar and I simply pointed out that it doesn't change the fact that on their own menu it's literally called the $1 $2 $3 menu. I'm literally calling it what it is.

I couldn't figure out why it bothered him so much that I was referring to it in the way it has been branded for years. It was likely the weirdest experience I've ever had at a drive through, and it goes to show that the management here is not really interested in quality customer experience. Bizarre. But I suppose...

If I could leave zero stars I would. My husband and I left the beach with our 1 and 2 year old in the back seat & they were hungry. I ordered one 6pc happy meal with extra fries, honey mustard, and a sweet tea. I also ordered two large fries. After completing my order she said there was no ice for the tea, then said that there was. I went to the first window to pay and asked for 2 BBQ and 2 sweat and sour sauce packets to add to our order because I know they charge extra for those.

I paid and was not given a receipt.

I proceeded to pick up our order and was only given the happy meal with 5 chicken nuggets, apple slices, no honey mustard, tea with no ice, no large fries, and no sauce packets.

I asked very nicely for the extra fries and the sauce that we paid for and was given an attitude like we were trying to get something free. I understand some people try to use others that way but this was not the case. I tried telling them several times that we paid for them and she didn't give me a receipt and they proceeded to tell me that we did not pay for them. Very rude, arguing and nasty. My husband got out of the car, went to the first window, and got the receipt which showed we had indeed paid for everything we were asking for. When he brought the receipt back so she could see, she said she didn't want that, with a nasty sarcastic look while rolling her eyes. We left after that.

I will never stop here again.

8/20/22...

When will this shut down??? Burger King in the same parking lot shut down. It’s now trying to be a CookOut but not open yet. I went to drive thru and she said her speech and said order when ready so I did. 3 mins later came back on and said the same thing. I asked for a milkshake with my order. Guess what??? At 11am it’s broken down, you just started lunch!!! When I got window she had a black mask on and was muttering. So I asked her to take down her mask, “it’s 2024 mind you” I’m tying to lip read at this point. She told me to “Go touch grass??” What does that mean? Got my subpar food thrown in the window and slammed so I just turned my car off and sat there. When another person came up to window to ask if I needed anything I said yes , Ketchup, please and thanks. Food was nasty. Tried the new double Big Mac. Bun was old and crumbling . Fry’s couldn’t even be chewed. Disgusting. Please close. The problem is the same employees floating in between fast food restaurants. Do better cause Five Guys will shut you down. Right across the street. Are you not seeing the reviews on Google. They won’t clean anything like the upstairs It’s always blocked off. Milkshake and ice cream are always broken.
