Ordinary food and experience at extraordinary prices. Be advised before visiting Flemming's. I attended with my wife and another couple. They both have extensive experience in the restaurant industry. Value is huge with me as well. The dining room was not very busy for a Saturday evening. The complimentary valet was about the only thing we enjoyed. Our waiter was very routine and always seemed to just be going through the motions. He had no real impact on our dinner or the experience. Several visits to our table throughout the meal and he regularly repeated himself as if he had forgotten that he already asked. It became very obvious that our waiter was just there to go through the motions. At the end of the meal, he came to our table to collect the signed checks BEFORE we left. AS he walked away I saw him glancing at the bill to see his tip...very unprofessional. The food was very standard. Nothing came to the table that blew our mind. The steak was great, but was it worth $60? No. You can attend Firebirds @ Austin Landing or Texas Roadhouse in Fairborn and get a much better experience for a much lower price. The sides were also very bland. Mac & Cheese, brussel sprouts, potatoes, and asparagus...not one hit my pallet and blew my taste buds away. I actually would almost assume that they serve the exact same mac and cheese at Outback (not that it was bad, but not worth $12). There is no dress code, by no...I mean none. We dressed a bit nicer with the expectation of it being a bit more fancy. Jeans, no collars, gym shoes...all acceptable. The wait staff attire was a bit sloppy as well. Shirts wrinkly and sloppy. The bottom line is Flemming's is over-hyped. Do not get sucked into the "well, let's try it once", you will kick yourself afterwards. Save your money (total bill with tip for 2 was $260) and go with your gut feeling and go somewhere else. I could have spent half of that elsewhere for a much better evening. If you know how to properly grill steak, do it yourself and save the money or go somewhere you already enjoy (there are a several options in the Miami Valley). We will not be returning ever to Flemming's. The "prime steakhouse" is a line for the naive..they are over-hyped, overpriced, and...

We moved to Dayton from the gastronomically vibrant state of Virginia, so we are in the process of discovering good local restaurants of all kinds in Dayton and surrounding areas.
First positives: friendly, courteous, welcoming staff. Vanessa, our server, also warm and friendly, with a lovely sense of humour.
The negatives: inedible, gluey salad exchanged for a pleasant soup. Oddly-shaped, small Petite Filet, with a pleasant flavour and saignant finish. Interesting wine list; however, very over-priced by the glass/bottle. Our selection: Bodegas Catena Malbec Vista Flores 2021 retails nationally for about $21. On Fleming's wine list, $60/bottle, $15/glass. Vanessa's bottle opening service was gauche and nervous. She had trouble removing the cork. We courteously pointed out that she should correctly cut the capsule around the second lip, not the first. The small bread loaves were soft, cold and unappetizing. We suggest they be replaced with crunchy baguettes!
As former fine wine industry veterans, my wife and I have dined in many outstanding U.S. as well as foreign restaurants. We are exceptionally familiar with wines and wine service. Hence our critique; I emphasize we believe in polite, proactive commentary at all times! I will point out that a floor manager came to our table to apologize for the salad. We appreciated the gesture.
Final positives: well-prepared desserts. Thank you, Vanessa, for making a difference during an otherwise spotty and uneven experience.
I wrote a polite email to Messrs. Gilleland and Stomps, both of whom manage the restaurant, detailing our observations. I received a brief response. The only issue Mr. Gilleland commented on was the salad; he was happy, however, that we found Vanessa to be a very pleasant server.
Overall, an experience that sadly fell short of offering full value for the money. We are more than happy to support smartly-run restaurants that serve outstanding food, well-priced wines and outstanding service. We may visit Fleming's Steakhouse again; however, we look forward to first exploring Cincinnati's excellent restaurants, so it may be some time...
Read moreFine dining is something that I can't afford to do very often, so when i go to a fine dining establishment I expect perfection.
Perfection is an extreme criteria. Perfection is what I got.
Went with the GF for the valentines special, that and two drinks- which were unique and delicious, a salted caramel espresso martini and a sort of delicate ginger beer with mint and citrus- came to about 330$ (including the extra lobster mac and cheese we got)
The price was high, my standards were high, the food was literally the best I've had the pleasure of eating in my life- and I'm really fat.
The lobster mac was rich and creamy, the bread they brought us before the meal was fresh and served with these crazy house made butters that we lost it for.
First time trying oysters, not a huge fan but they were made perfectly and came with delicious jumbo shrimp.
The two steaks were made to a perfect medium rare and the crab-stuffed lobster was actually insane.
Each individual part of the meal, from bread to steak, was the best of that type of food I've ever eaten.
Dessert was a rich and heavy chocolate torte- which tasted like a combination of fudge and cheesecake, and when I found a tiny piece of fudge as we were finishing the dessert the waiter offered an entire replacement- which I wouldn't have been able to eat even if I said yes.
We left with full stomachs, an enormous bag with plenty leftover, and a wonderful experience.
Our waiter was professional and friendly (I think his name was Eli? I hope I got that right) and made the experience even better, and the manager was present and polite checking on us and other guests.
The environment was extremely clean, with a kitchen you could see (also gorgeous), and warm, not overly bright lighting.
Will absolutely be returning to see their spring/summer menu.
Oh, and there's a...
