We have been going here for many years, for the past several time the staff has just seemed very rude, they do not smile anymore and if you ask them something they just walk away! We started by sitting for at least 10 minutes without an acknowlegment, finally they bring chips and salsa, my husband asks the girl for mild salsa and she went and to get another girl, she walks away assuming she is getting our salsa, 10 minutes later a guy walks by and sees we are just sitting there, he says something into his microphone and walks into a door, a few minutes later he come out and takes our beverage order, i say I'll take a water, my husband said mountain dew and again asks for mild salsa! Guy comes back with 2 mountain dews, i advised him i had asked for water and he advised us that there is no mild salsa for the day, we ask about the lunch special and are told they do not do them on Sunday, finally a girl comes to the table and we ask about the lunch special she says that they do indeed have lunch special on sunday, so i proceed to order a chicken burrito and husband order shrimp chimichanga and she advises us that they are making mild salsa, we get mild salsa and food comes, they give my husband chichen chimichanga, we get it fixed! Fast forward to paying bill, go to register and robot behind counter does not say a word , just rings us out! My husband tell the guy have a great day and i ask to speak to a manager! Come to find out that the server was outside having an argument with her husband that is why she wasn't present the entire meal and the hostess had a headache that is why she seemed pissy when we walked in and wasn't smiling at the customer! i guess my suggestion is to call ahead and asked their mood for the day because the manager did not seem to care, he just apologized but it did not seem genuine at all! He did send the waitess home for the day, so i guess thats a win for the rest of...
Read moreReally really good food here. Why the one star? Manager is rude and ignorant.
We were planning a birthday party for about 50 to 60 people. The birthday girl loves Mexican food so we decided on El Toro's because the food is good. Almost 10 weeks before the event we went in to the restaurant and spoke to a manager about have a party. The manager was great. Very friendly and was willing to accommodate many different requests. The party was to take place on a Saturday at lunch. A time that is very slow for El Toro's... according to the manager.
9 days before our party we returned to make some final arrangements the manager we spoke to was not there. There is a different manager. He immediately refuses to host our party even though it had been booked. He rudely disparaged the previous manager. Very ignorant and disrespectful. Told us all the reasons why the restaurant could not accommodate us (i.e. I'll have to bring in 2 additional staff for 3 hours. We don't open that section of the restaurant on Saturdays at lunch...) He did not care that an arrangement had been made with us by someone who represented the restaurant. He did not care that he was putting us in a difficult situation 9 days before our event.
I guess this restaurant isn't in the business to make money. (I mean really... have you ever heard of a restaurant turning away patrons at a time when they are SLOW?)
Mimi's across the street bent over backwards to find a way to help us. In the end the date and time didn't work but they tried very hard.
We went to MCL... over on Shroyer. The manager there also bent over backwards to accommodate our large group a mere week before our event. Thank you Issa.
No thanks to nameless El Toro's manager ... if our business is really a bother we will gladly oblige you and...
Read moreVery dissatisfied with our experience. My fiance and I wanted to have lunch somewhere with a patio. We went to this location for that reason. When we walked in the hostess told us the patio was closed. We debated leaving but were hungry so we stayed. After about 10 minutes of sitting at our INSIDE booth, we saw two other customers walk out to the patio which I thought was odd because we were told the patio was closed. We watched as they were served their drinks and chips on the patio. My fiance went to the front desk and told our server (who was ringing out another customer) we were going outside. The server said that was fine. After about 5 minutes a DIFFERENT server brought us chips and salsa. Ironically enough about 5 minutes after that we saw our original waiter drive off. So we asked the waiter on the patio if our waiter left. He didnt know so we asked about our food since it had been about 30 minutes. He said our food was never rung into the kitchen. We ordered again with our new waiter and about 10 minutes later our food arrived. My fiance ordered fajitas and he knew right away something was wrong.....they weren't sizzling like normal. They appeared to be heated up in the microwave. My food was all mushy and cold. Were almost positive our original order was made but sat in kitchen TOO LONG. So instead of making it fresh it was reheated and tasted awful. Wait it gets better....a different server asked if we needed refills and took our plates because our second server was on break. Bottom line- if we weren't LIED to about the patio being closed maybe the rest of the horrible experience wouldnt of happened. We won't be back. It was a total waste of our...
