We love mediterranean food, try to avoid chains, and so decided to try Pasha while visiting Dayton. It's a Turkish restaurant located in a faux village in Beavercreek, packed with pedestrians and upscale shops. At 6:30 on Saturday the place was pretty crowded and kind of loud, but it was too hot to sit outside. They found us an open table for 2 in a side area. It was one of those with bench seating along the wall with several tables very close together (so close you have to sit right next to another person before you scoot into your spot). It was like having dinner with strangers--certainly not intimate or romantic. And unfortunately, one of the couples in the middle table was loud and obnoxious (boasting about having illegally molested a manta ray during his Hawaiian vacation for a bet). The server recommended a glass of good Turkish red wine (Kavaklidere Yakut) to complement our meal choices, which she brought out with a complementary basket of warm pita and a lightly spiced (not much taste, really) oil. We ordered some excellent babaganush instead--probably the best I've ever had. One entree was a generous portion of moussaka that was prepared in a layered Greek style, which is what most Americans are used to. It was good, but had too much something that left an aftertaste--cardamom maybe? It also had a small piece of bone in the meat that I had to spit into my napkin. Our other entree was karniyarik (stuffed eggplant). It was tasty, but my husband told me later he also had to spit out some small, inedible pieces of gristle. And at some point hubby ran out of water, but the server's assistant didn't come back with refills until we were nearly finished (she was running around filing glasses, but seemed overwhelmed). The check before the tip was just over $60. Overall, dinner was okay. I'd go back if we could get a better table but would probably order something that didn't have ground meat--our 'neighbor's' chicken kabob and falafels both...
Read morePasha Grill in Dayton, Ohio, offers a delightful dining experience with an inviting ambiance that beautifully captures the essence of Turkish culture. The decor and atmosphere create a warm, welcoming space perfect for enjoying a great meal. The food was outstanding overall, with some minor points of improvement. The hummus was creamy and flavorful, but it had a touch too much tahini for my taste. The rice portion, surprisingly, was very small—especially for a Turkish or Middle Eastern restaurant where rice is typically abundant and central to the meal. The grilled spicy chicken kebab and Adana shish kebab were nothing short of exceptional—juicy, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The yogurt sauce was a standout, complementing the meats with its rich, tangy flavor. The roasted vegetables were cooked to perfection, providing a savory and slightly smoky addition to the plate. For drinks, we ordered a classic mojito and a mocktail—both were fantastic, well-balanced, and refreshing. We also tried the Turkish tea and apple tea. Finally, a place that serves truly authentic Turkish tea! It was aromatic and full of character, a joy to savor. For dessert, the kunefe was absolutely fantastic—crispy on top, chewy inside, and perfectly sweetened with the syrup. The only downside to our visit was the service. While I don’t expect servers to hover, they seemed to vanish entirely for long stretches, which was frustrating. Service is an integral part of the dining experience, and unfortunately, it fell short here. Overall, Pasha Grill is a wonderful spot with amazing food, refreshing drinks, and a lovely atmosphere. With a bit of improvement in service and portion sizes, it would easily be a...
Read moreI suggested this place to a friend of mine due to the good reviews, but after tonight we will not be going back. We sat down at 7:05 and ordered our meal, right before a large party ordered theirs. We watched the large party receive their food while our server never returned until 8:10 with our food. He apologized for the long wait and said that there was some sort of malfunction and the kitchen was not receiving orders and the wait staff never knew, which is fine, but yet somehow a party of 10+ got their food no problem? My friend was pleased with her meal while mine was completely inedible. The shrimp were hard, over cooked, and tasted like bad fish. The sauce lacked any flavor whatsoever, but the rice was at least decent. I took three bites and pushed the dish aside. Our server came back 20 minutes later and asked if I wanted a box to which I said no and that I couldn’t even eat it. He did ask if I wanted something else and followed it up with “this is not a popular item that people order” and I politely declined after waiting over an hour to get that mess.
Side note: If you get sat in the covered outside area they use portable heaters for this section which make the area very comfortable. However, a male in the large party found the heaters uncomfortable and took it upon himself to turn them both off which made the rest of the paying patrons cold. Nothing was ever said to him so I can only assume he was either an off duty employee, someone’s family memeber, or a friend. Either way I didn’t think it was appropriate for him to declare just because he was too hot that everyone else gets to suffer. Here’s an idea pal, take off your...
