Great food, and an excellent beer and mixed drink menu. If you know the difference between Whiskey and Whisky you will be very pleased with the best selection they have to offer, they have any flight combination you can think of too!
The Service has always been EXCELLENT! They can get pretty busy on the weekends and service slows some, but they still maintain an acceptable timely service for a full dinning room on a crowded weekend nights.
Fish and chips are fantastic, as are the Bangers and Mash, but my favorite meal here is the Bell Haven Burger: It's about a 1/2 lbs of beautiful beef topped with Bell Haven beer cheese and those super thin onion rings, comes with chips (Fries) and a Fried pickle spear sample, simply AWESOME and a "must try" !
I spent 4 weeks traveling England and Scotland this summer of which I ate my fair share of Authentic fish n chips in many different locations across the U.K. , in comparison The Pub at the Greene does an excellent job serving Fish n Chips just as authentic as the U.K. with one exception the Pub doesn't serve them with "Mushy Peas" but with Cole slaw instead.
the pub is a bit on the pricey side, but well worth the money.
The Pub is now our favorite Birthday celebration meal place, PLUS the manager will buy your birthday desert, which are big enough to share. You can't pass this deal up.
The only thing I really don't like here.... They removed the "Tipsy Layered" desert from the menu. Please ask for the "Tipsy Layered" desert, (even if you don't want a desert) and maybe if enough of us request it they will bringing it back. Yes,...
Read moreMy fiance and I went out to the Pub for a fun date night: happy hour, dinner and trivia. We enjoyed the happy hour appetizers and loved the drinks on draft. Just before trivia started we placed an order for a burger and a side of Mac and cheese, since we were somewhat full from the appetizers (wings and pretzels with beer cheese). About an hour later (no contact from our waiter in that time period) - he slid us our bill for drinks and 2 appetizers.
We were somewhat confused and asked him when he returned about our meal order and if he had placed it. The waiter immediately apologized and said that he forgot to put in the order. He then took our check and cashed us out. Though we were ready to leave at this point - we would have appreciate more of a gesture from either the waiter or management regarding the mistake. It would have been preferred if the waiter would have offered to run back to the kitchen to try and get the order pushed through quickly - after all we waited for food for an hour and never got it!
All in all, we paid the bill and the waiter apologized again. We had a good experience during the happy hour, but we're disappointed not to get our meal - especially given the time we stayed patient. It's always disappointing to have to leave a restaurant and go get fast food on the way home for the evening. Would possibly try The Pub again down the road, especially with the quality of their appetizers - but with tempered expectations given the service during...
Read moreI don't know why i waited so long to try this place, but I finally went! My mother and I went and we fully enjoyed this place! Walking in we were immediately greeted by a host that was incredibly friendly and very helpful, her name was Kristina! It's always paramount to start the experience on a strong note and she definitely delivered! I started with an Old Fashioned, wish I knew that I could get it smoked, found that out later. I was also very surprised by the amount of bourbon that they had on the menu, especially some of the more rare and difficult to find ones! The old fashioned was actually one of the best I have had from a restaurant and was made with Woodford Reserve! We ordered a scotch egg, fish and chips, and Shepards Pie. The scotch egg was something we were looking forward to the most and actually led to a big disappointment. It was cut in the kitchen and had no runny portion of the egg. I dont know if this is how they are supposed to be cooked there but normally a scotch egg has a runny yolk. The fish and chips was absolutely incredible and I can see why it is a signature dish. Perfectly flaky fish and crispy edges and crust. The Shepards pie was one of the better that I have had. I definitely enjoyed the fact there was a biscuit on it! I will definitely be back and I honestly look forward to trying some...
