I would like to offer this opinion of the Healthy Alternative stores and the owner Tony! I know this will be lengthy, but nevertheless very important! My daughter was diagnosed with Inflamatory Bowel Disease/Crone's after having a severe case of Salmonella poisoning. This was almost four years ago. She had been fighting this disease with all the side effects and symptoms associated with the illness. She was taking 6MP (Mercaptopurine-sp?) and Remicaid for over two years. In August of this year, her specialist (who is wonderful) indicated that she was building up antibodies fighting against the Remicaid and would have to switch to Humira. We were upset! All of these remedies have series potential side effects which my daughter was experiencing some of. We called Tony (the owner) of Healthy Alternatives (after hearing of a young man who participated in a different regimen of supplements with success) and scheduled an appointment with him at his north Dayton location. I first made sure that he had some knowledge of the illness my daughter had! This man took over 2 hours of his time to listen to our history with my daughters illness and where we currently stood. After listening and asking many questions that made us feel as though he knew what he was talking about, he recommended several supplements that he felt would help her digestive system. After four years of several doctors of whom only one we felt was really good, we left the meeting with him feeling as though this was worth a shot and that we both felt extremely comfortable with Tony! We contacted my daughter's gastrointerologist and told him we felt very strongly about trying this for a few months since we were at an impasse with the medications. He was surprisingly very supportive and was receptive to monitoring her condition as we went this path. I will say that this path may not be for everyone with every condition situation associated with digestive disorders (I guess that is my disclaimer here), but I can tell you that my daughter has shown significant improvement in just the 6 weeks of taking the supplements. A huge improvement! The only negative when she had her blood work up at the 30 day mark was her iron was a little low. We modified what she is taking to fix that! I don't want to go over her symptoms specifically, but if someone contacts Tony at Healthy Alternatives and would like to talk with us, I will make sure my number is available! Tony is unaware that I have published this, so that is my next call. Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover healthy supplements (which is totally ridiculous), but it is well worth not putting all the chemicals into her system. The remicaid costs over $12,000.00 per treatment every 6-8 weeks. The 6MP was extremely expensive. We cannot say that this is a long-term fix, which we hope it is, but all we can both say is OMG!!!! We both felt that the time and concern that Tony took during our initial meeting was instrumental in soothing our apprehension of trying something different. After years of hospitals, chemicals, doctor visits and personal frustration on my daughter's part, we feel so good right now! We hope it continues! I am sorry that this is so long, but felt it was very important! Terri of...
Read moreWell I went there looking for vegan beef jerky I saw is only available at this store in the Dayton area. I wasn't able to find it but I could hear two females, I assume the stores employees, laughing and joking in the back. I walked to the counter multiple times to see if anyone would come to cash me out or see if I needed help finding what I was looking for. In the end not one person came out to see if there were customers. I was there for maybe 15 minutes...i had a friend with me and we were talking across aisles as there weren't any other customers. I assume the employees just really didn't care. It sucks because I was pretty happy about the prices and...
Read moreThey are completely against having children in the store. First, there is a very rude sign on the door about having children in the store. Today, when my well behaved three year old was in there, he had a bathroom emergency, the owner would not allow him to use their restroom. He was so upset he fell on his way to the neighboring store and cut open his leg. Needless to say, he had an accident. I try very hard to support local business even when I can find lower prices online, but I will not support a business who cares more about not having sticky hand prints on their windows than the customers that they...
