These reviews seem to cover several different Aldi stores, so I'm specifying that my review is about the Beavercreek, OH location (2451 Lakeview Dr.).
With very, very few exceptions the employees here are rude, surly and entitled. I have no idea where the entitlement comes from. I've learned to ignore it, but today's incident broke the camel's back, so to speak.
The customer in front of me in line was obviously having a very bad day due to unknown personal issues. He purposely left his cart parked in the middle of the checkout lane when he walked off after paying, preventing other customers from moving up. Instead of getting off her behind and moving the cart, the cashier just looked at it, then at me, expecting me to do her job. I pushed it so that it rolled toward the packing station.
This amazing employee then proceeded to give me an annoyed look and said, "I need that." Really??? Then earn your pay and go get it! Not wanting to cause a scene, I walked over to the cart and pushed it back in her general direction. She leaned over and positioned it to her liking, clearly angry that I did not subserviently arrange it for Her Highness.
I don't know who the manager of this branch is, but you need to fix your employee's behavior and customer service before someone reports your poor leadership skills to your regional manager. And pointing out the relatively high composite rating on Google is moot because 1) The vast majority of reviewers indicate that they are rating the cheap prices, and 2) Many of the reviews are about other...
Read moreI normally go to a different Aldi, but happened to be passing thru Beavercreek & spotted this Aldi and stopped there to get a few things. Now this was while the Covid-19 pandemic was really going on & stores were not giving out change very much. The male cashier had pretty much a huge hissy fit when I gave him a $20 bill for $17.76 of food, about $2.24 in change to be returned to me. The $2 in cash was no big deal for the male cashier, but he whined about giving me 24 cents in change. I instructed him to shut up & give me the 24 cents in coins. He did & I told him that I will never go to that Aldi ever again just drive the 21 miles to my usual Aldi for my grocery needs since they are much nicer down that way. Checkout lines usually are long, with 1 cashier usually working there, other 2 lanes hardly over open. You can pay with card at a special lane in the front of this store, but you can only use a credit card for that feature. Store was clean. 1 star, and that is my opinion of me being generous for this particular Aldi in Beavercreek, Ohio with the 1...
Read moreWhen we were just married (1981) and on a very limited budget, we tried shopping at Aldi's and it was horrible. Therefore, despite the fact that several of my friends indicated that it's not the same store and thus highly recommended that I give them another try, I was reluctant.
When I finally decided to go, I knew to take a quarter for the shopping cart and my own shopping bags, so I wasn't sidetracked in that manner. However, when I got to the register there were only two lanes "open." One of which was not open, since the man was leaving/going on break. The other cashier had EIGHT people in line--most with very full carts!
It seemed like it took forever to get rung out, and I don't understand why another cashier didn't immediately take the place of the person vacating his register. Therefore, despite the fact that the store was clean, there were plenty of options, and the prices were good, I'm reluctant to try again. I think I'd need to hear from management that they've developed a plan to avoid such an issue...
