This is a review for the Beavercreek, OH location… Lived in Charleston and Austin so know a little about the types of BBQs these cities put out. Tried several BBQ places in the Dayton area and were not impressed. City BBQ, however, hits the nail-on-the-head! The place was clean and well lit. Décor is very ‘TXs BBQ Joint’ looking with all of the ‘help yourself’ items like: sauces, pickles, jalapenos, onions, etc. The Brisket was as good as any I’ve eaten in TX. We like the lean (dry) part of a brisket and it was perfect. Just the right amount of burnt and smokiness, meat and seasoning. No sauce necessary. The turkey was moist and tasty. The sausage was excellent but a bit too salty for me. The pulled pork was better than any I've eaten in Charleston, but prefer the brisket. Of all the sides, the potato salad was the best. Only two of my six sisters could make it better. The corn pudding, baked beans, and mac-n-cheese were just ok. The banana pudding is the best I’ve had in any restaurant except for Paula Deans’ in Savannah. We’ve finally found a good brisket outside of Texas. We’ll be eating here several...
Read moreSo, we decided to get some takeout. Ordered the Judges Sampler and the City Sampler so the 4 of us could have some variety. We used to love CB, and in fact, used them to cater our daughter's graduation party and it was great! Hadn't been to CB in over a year, probably and ... it just wasn't very good. Maybe a bad day? All of the meat, with the exception of the ribs, was over-smoked/overcooked to the point of being really dry, the turkey just tasted ... weird, like it was overcooked and yet still raw/gamey tasting. The brisket, always our favorite, was so dry and tasteless, it was given to the dogs because none of us wanted to eat it. Even the pulled pork was dry and had a lot of weird hard bits. The sides were okay. Collards weren't anything to write home about, but tasty enough. Green beans were clearly from a big can but they were okay, if overcooked by a fair amount and the mac and cheese tasted like velveeta poured over noodles. Edible but nothing special. I hope this was an aberration and not the new normal for this location. One big plus is that every person there was...

Could tell the order taker was new, and just getting the order correct proved to be too much for him. Told him it was to go...guess I shouldn't be surprised they prepped it for dining in. After waiting a few more minutes, they got everything sacked up (or so I thought...they failed to put my wife's fries in the sack). We left the parking lot (which had become very busy) for a more open parking lot a few blocks away. Then we discovered they hadn't put the fries in. Wasn't about to go back into that mess. Oh yeah, and our sandwiches were almost room temperature at that point. Normally love their food, but we'll never go back again when they are that busy.
