Thai Bloom catered my wedding of 40 guests and everything was absolutely amazing. I've reached out to tons of restaurants in Portland and Beaverton to cater my wedding but no one was as personal and attentive as Faye from Thai Bloom. Within a day of reaching out, Faye replied with a kind and informative message to help me decide on a menu. After I chose a few menu items and told her the number of guests, she came up with a serving size for each item and a cost estimate per guest. She explained how catering works and allowed me to choose between serviced catering with hired waiters vs buffet style. I opted for buffet style which kept costs low. She was also very accommodating and flexible with menu changes before the event. I wanted 100% vegan menu and they were able to make my yellow curry, pineapple fried rice, and pad see ew vegan. They also made sure all the sauces were vegan as well. They provided sturdy paper plates, serving utensils, even take out boxes for guests to take leftovers with. I used my own metal flatware to keep the wedding zero waste. Anyways, the staff was right on time and the food was laid out and presented in an appetizing manner. The food was also piping hot and fresh from the kitchen and the fires under the chafing dishes kept the food warm all night. And the food was very delicious which was just as delicious as we usually eat at their restaurant. Usually when restaurants make huge batches, the flavors and textures are not as good but somehow Thai Bloom's chef's were able to keep all the food top notch. All the guests raved about the taste and presentation of the dishes. Please consider contacting Thai Bloom for your next catered event - for vegan, vegetarian, and meat eating guests. I highly recommend them for their professionalism, value, and flavor! Thank you Faye and Thai Bloom!!

Drove out about twenty minutes because I've been craving Thai food and read some pretty good reviews. I saw these twisted shrimp appetizers which looked really good and I wanted to try those. And! There was a happy hour menu so even more perfect. We arrived there and the arrows pointing you in which direction to go were kinda of confusing (or I just can't follow directions). Stood outside because there were a few people in the lobby and you know.. social distancing. Anyways, we had gotten there before someone who was picking up food arrived but wasn't acknowledged until I walked in after the guy who arrived after us got called in before us. But alrighty. The shrimp appetizer I was excited to get wasn't on their menu anymore. Something about it's not the time of year or season that they have that dish. Most of the food was pretty awesome, I ordered the happy hour tom yum, pad thai and the full order of green yellow curry with sticky rice. Tom yum and green curry hit the spot. The only reason I gave three stars was because our waiter didn't seem super friendly or happy to be there. The pad thai was missing something, wasn't super flavorful in my opinion. And there was something floating around at the bottom of my water glass and there was a hair in my sticky rice. Would most likely come back if I was really wanting some good tom yum or green curry.

Update: had delivery and takeout several times and it's always good. Today we dined inside again and the servers were great. Upgrading to 4 stars. =================================== Arrived 2pm Sunday in a group of 4. They were a little over half full. Got our water and menus right away but took 15 minutes to ask what our drink order was, then at least another 15 to actually get them (1 iced tea and 1 thai iced tea). Ordered the curry puff appetiser, they were delicious but very overpriced, $9 for 3. They were the size of about 2 golf balls each. Finally took our dinner order after getting the puffs. Ordered drunken halibut, green curry, Panang curry, spicy chicken with basil, and thai fried rice. They arrived fast (yay) and they were amazing, some of the best thai food I've had. Loved the spice level, had a nice heat that enhanced the flavor of the dish. Be warned that hot is hot!! Portion sizes were good. My wife found a hair in her dish, they promptly replaced the dish, but the apology was quiet and sounded insincere. No offer of compensation. We had to ask to get our water refilled, to which they gave us a pitcher and walked away. When we were ready to leave it took another 15 minutes to box the leftovers. Overall, service 1.5/5, food 4.5/5. Will try again but may be limited to takeout.

Have been dining here off and on for a couple of years. Dine-in, take-out, and delivery (their own service, and DoorDash). Have tried many dishes here and everything has always been good, maybe not the best in the world, but pretty good and fairly consistent. Portion sizes have always been good as well.

I will say the two most common noodle dishes - Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles - come with no bean sprouts) and Pad Pad Thai (comes with some bean sprouts) are a little heavy on the sauce. By comparison, both dishes can really vary from restaurant to restaurant anywhere. Some have a lighter color and flavor while others are darker and heavier. Thai Bloom is definitely on the darker, thick and heavy side, maybe just a bit too much. Basil fried rice is a tasty favorite, if you don't specify mild it certainly can get spicy, enough to make you sweat if you're not spice tolerant. The crab fried rice and Pad Thai (Dungeness) is also an excellent dishes without the heat. Curries have nice balanced bright curry flavor. The featured pork and ginger pot stickers here are also super tasty, and there is a chicken version on the kids menu.

Where this place keeps dropping the ball is with the bean sprouts, sometimes it's the little things! I have specifically asked for them on take out orders and delivery several times. NOT ONCE have they included them despite the printed receipt clearly showing "add extra bean sprouts or side of bean sprouts" next to each item, I'd even pay extra! Not much better results dining in, I usually have to ask at least three times before they get them. Last delivery I also paid $2 extra dollars for a small side of peanut sauce and they forgot that too! They do get super busy weekend evenings, but that's no excuse to keep forgetting items or ignoring them. Once is understandable, but over three times in a row is ridiculous!

Note - If you use DoorDash for delivery expect to pay an extra $2 on almost every main dish, this is set by DoorDash (no GrubHub or Uber Eats) and DoorDash also adds a hefty service fee. Using Thai Bloom's own delivery service through their website or phone-in is a far better option for the regular pricing without the service fee, but delivery wait times can be almost 2 hours during the dinner rush. Pickup service is a popular option as the togo table is always stacked full of orders.

The main dining area isn't huge, and it does fill up quickly, maybe the equivalent of around 14 four seater tables? If you want a quiet dining experience, don't come during the busy hours as it gets pretty noisy, especially if people are celebrating an event. There are also several tables in the bar area. They do take reservations and so far they've always worked out when coming with a 0-10 minute wait time for a family of four. In nicer warmer weather there's maybe another 10 tables outside along the covered sidewalk area that wraps around the building. We've always had decent service dining in, servers check with the table often but often but seem to forget the extras you might ask for, like drinks, utensils and bean sprouts !! Parking is fairly ample but also gets a little full so you might not end up right by the main doors. The disabled ramp entry is the long way around over by the bar entrance. Establishment has always been in good clean working order when we've come in.

All-in-all, not terrible, but definitely going to try somewhere...

Food and atmosphere is good, service has been absolutely terrible the two times I have been there. We thought we would give them another chance from the last time, unfortunately got the same server and had the same experience. Kimo is so rude and dismissive. I'm not one to not leave a tip, but he didn't deserve one. We understand that some places must tip out bartenders and other staff though, so my friend still did. Both times that we have been in there, Kimo made us feel like we were a burden and not welcomed. We understand that this last time we showed up within an hour of closing, but we wanted to make happy hour and no where does it show that last call is twenty minutes before close. Upon seating we were not greeted with even the decency of a "hello" or "how's it going". He immediately and veryy rudely told us "just to let you know we are closing up and I am doing last call on food and drinks. So did you want to order anything?". This was at 8:30pm. He then aggressively started scraping chairs across the floor (like nails on a chalkboard), super disruptive when you are trying to have a conversation and enjoyably eat your food. He then was outside doing closing tasks and BANGED a cable (to tie the chairs up with) soooo loud on the window right by us, without even the least bit of remorse when he came back inside (like it was on purpose). Through all of this, we went from having the biggest appetite.. to none. Also noticed that he had a completely different tone with certain other tables, compared to us--BOTH times we were in. Last time we showed up at 6pm, so it clearly didn't matter what time we were there.. we were still going to get treated the same, which was like $h!+. Overheard him and another employee talking bad about other customers, within ear reach, which is so unprofessional and shows lack of accountability from management. Read through several reviews where the owner has responded saying that they have high standards for their staff and training... This is clearly not the case. As small business owners, we really like to support other small businesses. But I can't justify doing so at this establishment when we are continuously treated so poorly... The food runner and bartender were super nice and pleasant. Wish we could have just given those two our money. At this point, we are not sure if we can bring ourselves...

Update: December 2024. The only way to get decent food is dining there! Picked up a 60$ order last night. Pad Thai was not fresh made! 😔. Was like very dry, old, blah. Like it is when it's been leftover in the fridge for 2 days! Very disappointed. We spend a lot here monthly! Shame on you Thai Bloom for sending old leftover food out for to go orders. Never have we been served pad Thai that was so disgusting when we go there to eat. They figured send it out with a to-go order who's going to bother driving all the way back! And you can't call the restaurant! When you call it's going to some call center type of place. Not to the actual restaurant!! Thai Bloom you owe my daughter and I a fresh cooked order of Pad Thai! DO NOT WASTE YOUR $ ON TO GO ORDERS!

After my first review of 2 stars! They thank me and are glad I had a good experience?? What is wrong with these people?!

Definitely time to try a different Thai restaurant.

Good food but you need to dine in only. Since Covid we have called and ordered over the phone and pick up inside. Every time the order is wrong. Ask for no onion in the fried rice. Get more onion then there was rice. Most discusting thing ever. All you could taste is onions!! Ask for extra peanuts on the pad thai. Even that's skimpy. Barely any! With a huge amount of noodles. But then again they didn't put any!!. Ask and pay for extra plum sauce. To go with pot stickers and satay chicken. Of course we didn't get any plum sauce or the sauce that goes with the pot stickers!! $60 worth and a 8$ tip!. Omg. At this point feel robbed. Was so hungry for that dinner then nothing!! Is right about any of it. We are done giving them the chance with to go orders. Maybe when covid is history. May go on a Sunday someday for happy hour. When we know we will have the sauces that go with the dishes. Been ripped off...
